My May 24, 2008 Wedding Review - Venetian Yacht Club, Jimmy Ryan Photography, John Miller Videography, Royal Brass and so much more!

I can’t believe I am actually typing my review today. I had a wonderful day! It was sunny 75 degrees, light breeze on the water, I married my best friend in the church my parents got married in, I really couldn’t ask for more!

PICTURES ARE IN MY ALBUM!!! I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO LOAD THEM!!!

Photographer- Jimmy Ryan Photography A+++++++++++
Words can not describe how I feel about Jimmy! I was crying when I saw the proofs. I did not have a list of must take pictures. I trusted his sincere judgment that the pictures would be great and they were. The moment I met Jimmy I knew I found my photographer. After I left with him I immediately called the other photographers that I met with and told them that I wasn’t going to need them after all. Not only was he wonderful and professional as a photographer but I think I found a great friend in him. I’m sure ill be calling him anytime I need a photographer in the future. I’m so lucky I get to work with him in a few weeks for my TRASH THE DRESS SHOOT!!!! ?

Videographer- John Miller A++++++ (Waiting for Video)
Jimmy told me about John so I knew I had nothing to worry about when I booked him. They work very well together. I believe John is also coming to the trash the dress shoot to film a conclusion to our wedding video. He was so nice and personable along with Jimmy. I felt like one of my friends was videotaping me!

Hair- Maria from Concours D'elegance

My Hair A++
My Hair came out PERFECT!! It was exactly what I wanted!

Bridesmaid Hair A
The girl’s hair came great! The only thing was that it was expensive. I was under the impression it cost X-amount of dollars and in fact it was 40 dollars more. If I had known I would have given the option to my girls to get there hair done wherever they wanted. Again, this was my fault for not checking!

Headpiece- Denise Leli- A+
Put a major whole in my pocket but was beautiful!!

Wedding Dress and Veil- Bridal Reflections- A+++++
It was the dress I dreamt about since I was a little girl. My mother passed away so I went with my Nanny and Mother In Law who I am very close to. When I came out of the dressing room we were all in tears. Right away my Nanny said that it was the dress my mother would have picked so of course I had to get it!

Bridesmaid Dresses- Bridal Reflections D
Holy Nightmare!! Do not go to Bridal Reflections for your Bridesmaid dresses. They caused my only Bridezilla moments. All of the dresses were either just perfect or way too big. One was so large that my bridesmaid could pull her dress up and down while it was zippered!! She told the girl doing the alterations what size she needed but they kept insisting she needed it to be larger. This was so embarrassing!

Reception- Venetian Yacht Club A+++++++
Giulio- (Catering Manager)Fantastic!!
Alvin- (Maitre D) Everything ran smoothly the whole night. He made sure all night that everyone was having a great time!!
Lisa- (Bridal Attendant) Any individual who doesn’t mind seeing a stranger go to the bathroom is cool in my book. She was very helpful!!! I like the occasional cigarette with my drink and I didn’t want anyone to see me smoke so she made sure I was out of sight!

Rehearsal Dinner-A+++++++++
Black Birds Grille Sayville
I spoke with Kristen. This place was great. They worked with me with the pricing and the menu. The food was awesome, drinks were flowing and we had a great time!

Wedding Cake- A++++++++++
Audrey’s Bake Shop Sayville
The Cake was beautiful and extremely colorful just the way I wanted it, and the taste!!! Amazing!! We had 4 layers 2 chocolate cake with chocolate mousse for my baby and 2 yellow cake one layer strawberry filling one layer cannoli with chocolate chips for me. YUM! I’m drooling thinking about it.

Tuxedo Black Tie Tuxedo Smithtown- C
The Tuxes looked nice but the place ******. Every time we went when they were opening they were a half hour late, they lost the groom and best man’s measurements and called us 2 days before the wedding. The best mans pants split by the buttocks!!!! And you can see it at the church. When we went to give the new measurements they made us wait 45 minutes!! Are you kidding me?

DJ- Long Island Sound- A+
Steel Drum Band (cocktail hour) Long Island Sound A+
They were great! We had one of the largest packages. They kept everyone dancing all night. One small problem which was not mine and I didn’t realize but I gave them a song list (which they played everything) but when my mother in law tried to make a song request they said sorry bride’s request only ? She was so pissed. She told me the next day I couldn’t help but feel important after that! They had people take pics throughout the wedding to post on there huge TV’s. A week after the wedding they sent over 200 pics for me. I thought that was so nice. They also gave us 2 CD’s filled with all the songs I requested.

Invitations- Minute Man Press - B+
The invitations were nice. I was really pissed because when I tried to order 25 additional invites after the others were ordered they wanted to charge me almost $300 so I went to Staples and ordered the do it yourself invites. They were very pretty and inexpensive. I almost wish I did them from the beginning.

Calligraphy- E-Z Calligraphy – B
The calligraphy looked nice. We had a communication problem, and I had to cop a little attitude to get my envelopes back to mail my invites in time. She also told me to leave some envelopes and if I needed her to do a few more I could call. Thank God I didn’t give her my actual invitations with the envelopes because P.S. I called her with a few more names and she never called me back!!

Shoes- DSW A++++++
Who doesn’t love DSW? My shoes were originally $185 and I got them on clearance for $50!!!

Jewelry – Sabrina my bridesmaid (Something Borrowed)

White Wings Dove Release (Macy) A+++
Everyone loved this!!! My church was very strict and would not let us use bubbles because they stain the doors, Rose Petals because they stain the cement or anything else you can think of throwing at a wedding. They did however let us do the dove release ? Macy was Fantastic! I highly recommend her. Total Sweetheart! I must admit, I was a little frightened opening the baskets. Especially the last one with the 10 doves, you never know where they are going to take off!!

Royal Brass- A++++
Roger was a doll. They had the funniest outfits and played really well!
