our July 1st Thatched Cottage Wedding--updated!!! -- now with a few pics -- now with some DUET PROOFS
I should be packing right now, but I had to just let everyone know that the Thatched Cottage was phenomenal!!! Everything was out of this world. Any TC brides out there should not be the least bit concerned about quality and professionalism. The guests are raving about the food, setting, service, cake. We also used Milestone Music and were even more impressed with them than we were when we booked them. Top notch!!!! The dance floor was packed the entire night.I have so much more to say, but will wait until I am back from Hawaii!
Thanks for everything girls! Part of the reason why our wedding was so successful was the great advice and referrals I got from LIweddings.
_____________________________________
Our Angels – I never really believed in angels until the wedding. As some of you might already know, my parents have both passed away (my mom when I was ten, and my dad in 2003). I have no doubt that they had an integral part in making our wedding as perfect as it was. I know they were there. I thought I would be sobbing the entire day and night – and only a few happy tears walking down the aisle and when we danced our first dance. Despite the overcast day, the sun came streaming through the stained glass windows above the alter at my church when we were exchanging rings. The weather forecast was horrible, and rain held out – until 10 minutes after we went inside for the reception!!! Amazing!
Holy Cross Lutheran Church (Lake Ronkonkoma) – This is the church where I grew up. I was out of the loop there during college, but am glad that I am a member now. The pastor there is awesome – Claudia Raggie. If you are looking for a church to get married in, she will accommodate you. It takes awhile to get in touch with her because of her busy schedule, but it is worth the wait. Many people commented about how personal the service was, and how positive she was when speaking to everyone and us. She was even telling jokes at the rehearsal. She made sure to include my parents in a meaningful, but not morbid way. Music and reading choices were also very flexible – my Matron of Honor sang during the unity candle. It was perfect!
Brewsters (Rocky Point) – my FIL loves this place, so even though it is a little far from church, they booked it anyway. It is barbeque place, but they have some Italian stuff, too. The portions were good sized, and the food was very good. For some reason, it took a long time to get the food served, but all in all the food was great, the atmosphere was pretty, and the prices are reasonable. The time lag meant everyone had a few drinks, and got talking to each other. That was the best part. With tons of out of town guests and a big bridal party, it was a blast.
Bridal Suite of Patchogue – a lot of people have had not-so-good experiences with this place. I think my girls had some issues with the seamstresses, but they did not want to worry me. Everything was great for me. Rose altered my gown beautifully, and it was beautiful.
Marlen – What an amazing woman! She came highly recommended by a friend, and my friend was right. I never felt so beautiful, than on my wedding day, and she had a huge part to play in that. She works from her home, and uses all Clarins, Dior, and Channel makeup. The only thing I had to buy was lipstick and glass to reapply during the day. I knew after my trial that she would be fantastic, and she was. She also did one of my BM, and I added my aunt to the list a few days before. At the last minute, my grandma realized that she forgot the right eye shadow at home in Mississippi and Marlen even did her eyes. If anyone is interested, FM me and I will give you her number.
Debbie at Entourage (Selden) – Again, there were some last minute additions to the list pf people who wanted their hair done, and Entourage was very flexible. The owner Debbie, did my hair for another wedding and I loved it. I have very thick hair that does not always stay up. It did! So, I went for a trial, and then decided to go with her for my wedding. She was great. She did exactly what I wanted with my hair, and a BM hair. My aunt and grandma had washes and blowouts and were also happy. I can’t wait to go back and get it all chopped off now!
Thatched Cottage (Centerport) – I cannot believe how awesome everything was. From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, every detail was taken care of in a professional way. The Thatched Cottage puts on a party that far exceeds the great prices they offer. The main room has gone through a beautiful renovation. Everything from the window treatments, carpet, chairs, and crystal has been updated. Each instruction was followed to a “T” – old photos displayed, donation card, almonds… everything. Our bridal attendant was ready for us, even though we were very early. Because we were able to finish our pictures before the cocktail hour even started (!) we enjoyed every minute of it. We did not get to see everything on display, because Rachel, our Bridal Attendant, kept bringing us plates of food with a sampling of everything. The food was outrageous. The tropical drinks were also a big hit! Main course choices are like nothing we saw anywhere else. And they were great. Many guests commented about the unique way the food is served – the chefs bring carts onto the dance floor and plate the food all at once. Everyone eats hot food at the same time!! Joe wanted to have a plate with a little of everything, and they were happy to bring him what he requested. The seconds offered were also enjoyed by everyone. The cake, different kinds of coffees, and pastries also surprised everyone. I actually only had a few bites of the cake, and with I had more – I guess I’ll have to wait a year! Our guests even enjoyed chocolate covered fruit on the way out the door. What a night! We can only hope to be invited to a party there in the future. We would highly recommend the Thatched Cottage!!!!
Duet (Huntington) – What can I say???? Everything positive I have read on this board was the case for us. We have Woo and Joseph doing our photos. They were everywhere!!! Instead of being pushy and demanding like many photographers are, they would say things like, “I like that.” For some reason, the time that they were supposed to arrive was incorrect on their paperwork (too early). I thought it was corrected the week before the wedding, but they arrived early anyway. I figured they would leave early, then. But they did not. They stayed until the bitter end. We cannot wait to see our beautiful pictures!
Top of the World Limo (Kings Park) – They were fantastic. It was hard to find a limo company that no one have anything negative to say about. They were on time, clean, and accommodating. The driver, Larry, let my cousins from out of town follow him all day with no problems. Again, I would recommend them. We even got a thank you card from them the other day.
Flower Barn (Seaford) – I put off flowers for a long time, because I have no clue what I wanted. Then, the first two estimates I got were very expensive. I was discouraged, until I met Michael at Flower Barn. He is so nice, and patient. He gave me great suggestions so that I would not spend more money than necessary (rare for a vendor). He also created a great sample and was willing to make the slight changes we decided on that day. I panicked when I realized the morning of the wedding, that I never asked him what time the flowers would be at my house, and I called him. He was so nice and calm, and had them at my house earlier than he planned so that we could use them for photos. They lasted all day, and I was able to dry my bo-k while on the honeymoon. Great value, and easy to work with…and BEAUTIFUL flowers.
Milestone Music (Commack) – We had an awesome reception thanks to these guys. They work so hard to give you music the entire night. Never were we without live music. People have commented that they have never seen a dance floor fill up with the first song – and it continued all night! Again, they were responsive to all of my requests and executed them perfectly. It was my aunt and uncle’s anniversary, and they even learned their wedding song for a dedication. I did not want the party to end because of them. We wish we had an excuse to hire them for another occasion!
Honeymoon – Hawaii…. Everyone must get there at least once in their lives

Congratulations, and you look lovely in your pics! We loved Thatched Cottage, but we thought it would be too far for our families in the end, and it was a little over our budget. It looked beautiful though, and their menu sounded great!
