Ceremony Musicians

Does anyone have any suggestions for ceremony musicians?
We just went to a church wedding that had a string quartet and it added such a nice atmosphere that we're thinking of having something like that as well. But it would need to be inexpensive (so maybe not a quartet). We'd only need them for an hour.
Any recommendations are welcome! Thanks

Best might be graduate students at the University (Stony Brook.) Just call the music department.

For professional strings try Island String Quartet @ 631-689-9879

Try going to a local music school, many of the teachers there are trained professionals, but will work for less then someone that comes from a company. You can ask them if you can see them play, and then try to work out a fair price. Good luck, and have a great wedding. If you need any more help, you can email me at [email protected].

You can have a string trio play the same literature as a string quartet and cut the costs.I would avoid going to a high school or college to recruit students at a lower fee. On a recent Friday evening I received a frantic call from the mother of a bride (not one of my clients). They hired college students to play the ceremony - and found out the night before the wedding that the students were away in Europe. The mother was frantic and I was able to help her with my performers. I have heard many stories like this. Please remember if something seems too good to be true - it probably is. You can have a smaller ensemble and still have the same effect. Look at my editorial
