church decorating

This a repost from the BHB board - maybe there's a florist that can answer this question:

about how long does it take to decorate a church for a wedding? I guess it depends how much you put up, but I'm just trying to get a general idea of how big a window of time I'll need for the florist. My mom seems to think it only took 15 minutes to decorate the church for my sister's wedding, but that church is much smaller than the one I'm getting married in.

Re: church decorating

Please try to allow as much time as you can for set up to protect against unexpected contingencies--aside from typical traffic, delivery and transportation issues, some problems that I have personally faced are services that go way longer than I was told that they would, crowds that stay around afterwards and stand in the aisle that you are trying to navigate, early arrivers who do the same, having a set up area in the middle of a traffic laden street, and walking around strollers in the aisle when you are carrying giant iron candelabras! Personally, I like the church to be set up perfectly before the first guest arrives so that the doors can open and you get that 'ooooooh' factor. I would be generous with the set up time and I think that you will have a better result.
