I am looking to find out the possibility of getting a reduced rate for a DJ because I am hiring a band to cover the ethnic music of my fiances family, since they will only have to work half the time I am wondering whether they would be able to work with me as far as pricing. I do have someone who said he will half his price 1500 to 700) but I honestly dont really care for him.
Is this possible I am on a tight budget and it just doesnt seem right to have to pay full price for half of work.

Here`s another viewpoint to consider...
If the expectation is that the DJ remain at the venue for the duration of the
wedding (ie. 4-5 hours), then 'time' must considered part of the commodity for
which you have contracted, whether the time is spent actually performing or
'waiting' to perform.
If you request the DJ to perform services for 2 hours and then depart, a reduced
rate may be a reasonable request. With that said, the price you were quoted
($700) is very reasonable given the fact that they may be required to 'sit around'
for 2 hours.
Further consider that if your date and time is 'prime,' many companies may
prefer not to be available to you at a reduced rate as returns may be greater booking another
event.
Good luck!

Hi Tarakinspa
I understand your dilema. The second response argues that the Band or DJ cannot make up for lost revenue regardless how much time is spent actually performing if that act`s time is essentially booked for the evening. This is very true.
However, there may be other creative ways to make it worthwhile for everyone.
You can call me at 631-286-4168 or e-mail [email protected]. Depending on your specific situation, I might have some ideas for you.
Thanks,

I can help you finding the perfect DJ and also help you with the fee.I provided a DJ for the wedding of the editor of Red Book Magazine. She provided me with a list of every song the DJ was to play-and not to deviate from the list. This way you can have the DJ perform songs the band will not be performing-thus avoiding repetition of songs. You should not have to pay the full fee if the DJ is alternating with the band. Please feel free to call me at
631-754-0594.Let me know the specific time, place and location and I can tell you how I can help.
