Does anyone have a number for the dove release? Are there more than one and who is the best? Thanks!

Re: Doves
I would defenitely check out Wedding Wings on this board. I'm not sure of any others to be honest. I had checked them out for my sisters wedding, I was going to contact them and go ahead but it was decided that she didn't want the dove release after all. Their rates seem very reasonable (I had expected to pay more!)
Also , the only thing you want to consider with these dove releases , is that the only ones who can control the doves are the doves themselves, if you know what i mean .... accidents on suits and dresses... baaaaaad ! I wonder if they have a way to control that . . . ? ? Anyhow , hope it works out for you !

Re: Doves
I have heard that they don't feed them the day of the weddings and that helps them have less mishaps and makes them fly home.

Re: Doves
OK. So let me try to answer some of your questions about the 'doves' Yes it is true that no one can guarantee that the doves won't soil, but we do take precautions to minumize the risk. In the three years I have done releases there has been only one accident and that happened at a friend's wedding where he was scooching the bird just prior to the release. Other wise so far so good. A couple of things come into play when trying to control nature. Just like you can buy pet food that reduces stool, you can do much the same things with the birds by using feed with certain percentages of things like fat, fiber , protien, etc. The other factor is the time of the wedding. If the wedding is early in the day the birds (actually white homers) will not be fed the day prior. This causes no harm and is a common practice with racing birds. If the wedding is latter in the day they recieve a half ration the day before. This reduces the risk and has no harm to the Birds. These guys live a nice clean life. They love to fly and all are vacinated. Did you know that they even make mineral baths for the little critters, which they enjoy twice a week. Anyway thats the long version of precatuions that are taken. Feel free to call me if you have any questions (Frank) 631-289-6473 http://liweddings.com/services/doves/weddingwings/index.asp

Re: Doves
Hello Debbie. My name is Frank. The 'doves' are actually white homers whiich fly all year. The only time they don't fly is during heat advisories and during rain/snow. These birds are bred to fly and some will actulyy learn to let themselves out of the coop if I dont give them flying time. Once released the birds make a bee line for thier home loft. Once they arrive they 'buck' in and are fed. They even get something called pigeon candy. So no the birds do not die after the release. Believe me they live a very comfortable life. Although they are capable of hundreds of miles most releasers will limit the distance to also ensure the birds safety. So I hope I have put your mind at ease.
