February flowers...

I'm getting married 2/12/11. Do the prices of flowers go up because it so close to Valentine's day???? Looking for a reasonable florist.

I Need

1 bridal bq
2 BM bq
1 MOH bq
FG pedals
5 boots.
2 corsages
10-12 low centerpeices

Our CH is doing our ceremony flowers.......

Color scheme red,white,ivory roses..

I'm sorry, Lisa, it's not that florists choose to have the flower cost rise right before Valentine's Day and on Valentine's Day itself, it's that our own costs rise dramatically, as in multiples. I'm often paying 3 to 4 times the cost of the same flowers from the wholesalers than I would have a few weeks before. If the cost estimates that you receive from florists are 'all over the map' for your date, it's often that we cannot even anticipate just how high the flowers will go, so it's extraordinarily difficult to price a Valentine's week wedding to make sure that the expenses are covered. As for the wholesalers as well, since winter flowers are flown in from all over, the price of oil and gas are a factor too (I know, more bad news). My only advice is that since you now know the real story of what goes on, the good news is that you don't need the extra ceremony flowers, and you hopefully will have the time to anticipate and plan for the extra expenses you will undoubtedly encounter for your date.
