Florist- what size should bouquets be

I want a hand-tied bouquet. What is the average size- 8', 10', 12' for a bride, MOH and BM.

Michele, obviously we are not a florist and this isn't our expertise, however, when I saw your question, it made me think of our last week's wedding. She had gotten a hand-tied bouquet also with equisite flowers, however, it was so large that it just took over her and she only posed with it for the ceremony photos. She kept saying it was so large, that it just wasn't her and she really didn't like it for that reason. Therefore, we have found that to err on the side of smaller is always better. Hope this helps....

also, I just wanted to add that the larger they are and the more compact they are, say like tight roses, the heavier they are to carry. Something, the bride I don't think gets told. As it seems every wedding the bride is remarking how her biceps are getting a real workout! So keep weight in mind. Its amazing but you wouldn't think flowers would be heavy, ha ha.

hello michele, well all of the answers you have gotten so far are correct wieght is a fact a very big factor if it's to heavy you find yourself not wanting to hold it and if you spent alot of money on a dress that you loved covering the whole thing with flowers defites the porpose . the first thing i always ask a bride is how tall she is and what style of dress she is going to wear my reasons are as such if you are short not only does size matter but also style cascades and presentation (elongated ) have a tendense to make you look shorter and hand held is the better way to go . and the opposite if you are really tall . as far as the style of dress if it is elaborate with pearls lace etc... then simple doesn't make you look so busy. if you dress is plain and simple a bqt with more texture will add interest . hope i was helpful heather
