Help with cruise

I'm married already so its not a honeymoon, just a vacation. We've never been on a cruise so I need lots of suggestions. We're thinking the Caribbean, probably leaving 2/29 for about a week. My husband wants to leave from New York, I don't know if that's hard to do.
