Honeymooning in New Orleans and Mexico

Is it possible to book one week in New Orleans from Mon., 11/29-Sat., 12/4 flying in from NYC and then fly to Cancun on 12/4, where our resort is already booked for another week, and find flights to and from that is most affordable? Internet travel sites aren't making this easy as we don't need hotel the 2nd week and it appears flights out of Cancun don't leave early enough on Sat. 12/11 to get from N.O. back to NY.

Please help! Thanks.
