What is the benefit to using house vendors? How much do you really save? Does the house band really cost more at another location.

Re: house vendors
Ok, Cards on the table. There are no hard and fast rules about the house lists when it comes to price. Yes, there are referral fees back to the house. Some vendors raise their price to absorb the cost, others keep their prices low because of the volume that a house list gives you.
Being on the house list: It took me the last 10 years of being an hour early for every wedding, understanding the needs of all the other vendors that I work with and working well as a team to give my couples the best of every one's services, being professional, and having my couples give positive feed back to get on the lists that I am on. Every vendor will give them the commission, but they only pick vendors who they feel reflect the hall's standard of professionalism and quality of service. They pick vendor who when they see your name as who the bride and groom have hired they know that everything will flow smoothly, seamlessly and without a hitch. (This is a good thing. This is what you want your hall to want for you) Vendors who work well with the machine that is a catering hall, contribute the the over all feeling of 'I was at a wedding at CHB&G once and everything was wonderful!' That's what they want because every event is a reflection of their product to how ever many people you invite. So house vendors are in general high quality vendors. However they are not the only high quality vendors. Personality is important, vendors understanding what you want and are on the same page as you are, rather than just selling you their product... these are all important things especially in as culturally, religiously, and ethnically diverse a place as we live in.
House vendors eat cheaper if you are feeding them, but price isn't always the best indicator of who is right for you as a couple.
IMO see the house vendors but if you are less than 100% happy see some others then decide. You know there will be a gut feeling when you find the right person. Trust your instincts.
Just my opinion and thanks for asking! I love it when I get to answer questions!
Wishing you the wedding of your dreams, surpassed only by the happiness your years together bring you.
