How often should I follow up with my vendors?

How often should I follow up with my vendors?

Hi Everybody,

I went wedding-planning crazy (like most brides) and booked all of my major vendors (hall, photographer, DJ, etc) 12-15 months in advance.

My biggest fear is that a vendor is going to somehow forget about me or misplace my contract, and book someone else for the same day.

How often should I follow up?? At this point I really don't owe anybody any money, so I feel funny just making calls to say hello??

Thanks for your advice!!!!

If it would make you feel more comfortable to make a friendly 'reminder' call, I think you should do it. Ease your mind, most vendors would not find this a problem, and really shouldn't. My customers contact me all the time, and not just to discuss the products they've purchased. Good luck, I hope this helps a little bit. And by the way, way to go on having all the big things done, you must be very organized!! --Laura--LA Productions

Hi Karen,

There is nothing wrong with emailing or calling your vendors throughout your planning stages and up to the time of your wedding day.

I think most vendors would be happy to hear from their brides & grooms.

I would send an email every month or 2 just to ease your mind. I have very close contact with my brides (brides more than grooms - sorry grooms),
some more than others.
I also, as a vendor, want to here from you of any updates. I find it very hard for a vendor to misplace or forget about your wedding date and/or contract. But..............I learned never to say never! So......my best advice for you would be to keep in contact with all your vendors on a monthly basis.

Good Luck!
Marie

I totally agree with the above posts. Sending an email or a phone call just to ease your mind - is always welcomed. Anytime you have a question or are unsure about something- you should contact the vendor involved. Many times a bride will call me and say 'This is a silly little question' - there is no such thing as a silly little question. If you are unsure about something -contact your vendor. I am sure the vendor will also appreciate being in contact with you.

hi karen my name is manny from royalty limousines. most vendors (the reputable ones) are very organized. and will not overbook, but, there is nothing wrong with you calling. every vendor normally will call you to confirm your date so good luck and call them if you feel more comfortable.

Even though your vendors should be contacting you throughout the year, I dont think it would be a bad idea to call and confirm, especially if it will ease your mind a bit. You shouldnt feel funny, I'm sure they expect it. I get Brides that call just to check in and we love to hear from them!

Good Luck!
