As a professional vocalist, I have worked several times over the years at Thatched Cottage. I always thought the cocktail hour food was very good, however, I have never been a guest at an affair there, so I would not be able to comment on the dinner or service.
The outside and the insde of the facility looks like it needs some updating but overall it's a very pretty setting.

Dear Elyse,
The Thatched Cottage has two main rooms.You should only use a Band or DJ that is familiar with the acoustics of the rooms. The room with one side of all glass has a tendency for the sound to magnify. The band or DJ is set up facing the glass . You have to be careful of the volume in this room. The downstairs room is a totally different feeling with guests separated on either side of the dance floor (dance floor in the middle of the room). I have performed in both rooms many times. I have a sound analysis computer and I have the sound curve of each room in our computer banks. This allows me to eliminate the problems of harsh sound qualities and microphone feed back. The cocktail hour is outside depending on the weather with plenty of room for the quests. It is easy for a Band or DJ to bring equipment into the rooms.

The Thatched Cottage is a very nice place to have your ceremony/reception. The lobby area is great for formal/family photos. Also, the outdoor gazebo and surroundings are great for formals/bridal party photos. The staff is very accomodating and the food is excellent.

My best friend got married there and it was perfect. The people that work there are so sweet and accomodating. They ask your guests if they want to try anything else before clearing their dishes. They also gave a fourth dish option when she missed her minimum number of people. I can't say enough good things about them.
