Invitations - how much??

Invitations - how much??

Approximately how much should invitations cost for something nice, but not crazy expensive? Also - what about calligraphy? I've heard there is a less expensive way that looks just as nice? How much is that per envelope?

Re: Invitations - how much??

Hi Emily;
Prices for invitations vary depending on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for a simple card stock invitation in black ink you shouldn't expect to pay too much. Handmade invitations are a bit more expensive but still affordable depending on the type of paper you are looking at. We are doing a lovely handmade invitation for a bride right now in a white imported Japanese paper and she is paying less for it than if she would have gotton something similar through one of our invitation books!
As far as calligraphy, you can either go with laser or hand. Hand calligraphy is timeless and beautiful but can be a bit expensive depending on the font you choose. My calligrapher charges between $2.50 and $4.00 per envelope set. Laser calligraphy is also beautiful but less expensive. Check out my special on it on the promotions page here at LIWeddings. I can match virtually any font ot typestyle and I have a very quick turnaround time.
Presently all my invitation books are 25% off as well so you can find vendors that offer discounts that will also save you $$$.

Best wishes

Re: Invitations - how much??

Hi Emily! Prices for invitations really can vary. If you are having them custom made, you can certainly find affordable options out there- it really just depends on what type of paper you use, if there are layers involved and if there are any special items that you want on them- such as ribbon or an ornamental item. As far as ordering an invitation from a collection, like Carlson Craft- there are many more options here for you. As Rebecca mentioned, most of the vendors on this site do offer a discount off the listed book price. I too offer 25% off the prices. If you have further questions about this, I'd be happy to discuss it with you. Good luck to you on your search! Laura--LA Productions (631)473-0271 or [email protected]

Hi Emily7,

There are so many varied invitations that you can choose from - I have everything from Budget invitations that you can get to top of the line with real rose petals pressed into the paper. It all depends on the look that you want. I am offering 25% off my entire line of invitations which include, CarlsonCraft, Birchcraft, NuArt, StyleArt, McPhersons and more... As far as calligraphy is concerned - you can go with the very formal type which is beautiful but can get pricey or you can also do the laser type which is also very beautiful and is less expensive. Many of my brides also do their own on their computers by purchasing special programs. Please check your forum mail for further information.

Hope this helps.

Happy planning!

Re: Invitations - how much??

Hello Emily:

I agree with each of the vendors. There are so many different types of invitations available in a wide-range of prices. It's really a combination of what you like, what the price is, and what do you expect for that price. From traditional albums to custom-made invites there are many affordable options.

Your best bet is to shop around, and get a feel of what's available to you. The most important piece in selecting an invitation, is for you, to be comfortable with the vendor you are working with, and that vendor should be easy to work with and accessible. I also believe vendors on this site are very accommodating and extremely helpful.

If you want to get an idea of some traditional album prices, you may want to check out our website: www.sweetnuthut.cceasy.com

Good luck in your search--If you need anything, please let me know.

Re: Invitations - how much??

Hi Emily,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! In addition to all the great points the other vendors made remember that the invitation is the “first impression” the guests will have to your wedding. The invitation will set the stage: romantic, elegant, traditional, unique or a combination of whatever it is you picture for that day.
My recommendation would be to pick what you LOVE first and then look at the price, if what you love is going to break the bank then you can seek out something similar for a less. The laser calligraphy does cost less but with the proper printer will still have the classic feel.
I would be happy to assist you in any way I can.
Good Luck

Re: Invitations - how much??

Hi Emily,

For quality invitations at a reasonable price I recommend Encore's line of products. There are many designs available for under $500 per 100 invitations and that includes enclosures (reception and response cards). We also carry C'est Papier and Checkerboard (in the higher end) as well as the popular and more budget conscious Carlson Craft, Nu-Art, Birchcraft, Regency, Chase and Stylart lines at discounts ranging from 25-35%. Our hand calligraphy costs $2.25 per set and computer calligraphy is $1.25 for black, $1.50 for color, per set. Good luck in your search and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 718-357-6124.
