Re: Invite question

Hi 112903,

Why, yes of course you would see it - you should see it. Especially if you pay for it you have every right to see it. That is the whole purpose of the proof.

As a vendor, some times I order proofs when one is not requested just for my own sake to make sure everything is right, particularly if there is something different about the invitation, the wording etc.

I would call your vendor back and request to see and sign off on the proof. Maybe there was a misscommunication.

Hope this helps - Happy planning!

Re: Invite question

All the printing companies charge us, as vendors, for proofs of the invitations, response cards, etc. Some companies charge one price for the entire ensemble, or they are priced individually.

Usually, for our customers, I give a free proof of the invitation copy, because in most cases the text for the reception card and response card is very clear and concise, and errors are rarely made on those pieces of the ensemble. It is important though to see the text layout, size of text, and to review the copy on the invitation.

Keep in mind that the proof we receive is usually by fax, black and white, and sometimes can still be difficult for you to really visualize how it will look on the invitation. However, in most cases, I would still recommend a proof, and yes, in all cases, the bride &groom must view the proof and approve it before the order goes to print.

Re: Invite question

Hi,

Yes, you should see the proof and sign off on it before print!

Many of my invitations are ordered on line. The Bride and Groom get an on-line proof and must email me that they approve before printing. If an invitation is being ordered that does not provide an online proof I have the bride & groom sign off on a type written copy (although most provide proofs).

Occasionally, the invitation company will have a misprint but that is why everything is signed off on and can be fixed quickly, the few times it happend, I noticed it and had it corrected right away without the bride's knowlegde and able to deliver when they were expecting.

Check your contract, often at the bottom of the invitaion order form it says 'The copy has been read and is correct' - I usually write in pending proof - see what it says on yours and then call the vendor.

Good Luck!
