Ok, I`ve been looking at photographers and videographers, and I`m a little torn. Is it better to use house vendors? What`s everyone`s experience with this? Do you feel like you get a better deal? Are the vendors treated nicer by your hall on your wedding day? Also, is it bad to use separate places for photo and video, or is it better to use one place? Your honest opinions are needed!!

Makes absolutely no difference. The house vendors usually pay quite a kickback to be house vendors. Professional photographers and videographers can always work together if they are really professional. Yes, there are some that are immature about where they stand and territory rights, etc., but in general we all work together. Go with the same company if you like their product and who they are.
Choose your vendors based on who you like.

Let's Say it's like buying insurance without having to pay for it. If A Catering hall is Backing a Vendor it generally means They have investigated them and are sure they will give
you a great Deal of attention. Because they don't
want them to stop Recommending them or spreading bad roomours about them. Most Brides book With the Church then the Hall That's a fact. I Know
from my own experience I have a great deal of influence on their Business decisions which please
my Brides. Good Luck

I`m with Mark on this one. Although I`m sure that a 'house' recommendation may be worth investigating, there is no guarantee that the recommended vendor will be a good match for your style and preferences. We all possess such differing styles, personalities, etc. that you cannot begin to touch the surface of experiencing the possibilities unless you do the research. You invest a great deal of energy, emotion and dollars planning the event. The neat thing about planning your wedding is that you have many options from which to choose. If you put in the time and effort to interview several, you will no doubt meet the 'right one' with whom you 'connect' and trust. Of all the photographers/videographers that I have worked with in 20 years in the industry, their professionalism had little to do with whether they were house affilitated or not. Enjoy your planning!

Go with your gut feeling. Choose a Photographer & videographer because you like their work and their personality. You will be with them all day long. I personally like to go by recomendations. If you are a professional, you will always get along with all vendors.

It is always better to use photo and video from the same company. This immediately eliminates any personality conflict problems. I have performed at several weddings where there was an ongoing dispute between photographer and videographer over unimportant little issues. It also makes life a lot easier for the Band or DJ by not getting in the middle of disputes. You do not need that kind of grief on your wedding day.Try to eliminate the stress level by incorporating as many aspects as possible. It also gives you better control over your wedding.
Hops this helps
