We're looking for a Mariachi Band to perform for our cocktail hour. The quotes I've been getting so far have been about $300 bucks per performer - Mariachi's generally have 3-5 performers. Does that seem right for a one hour performance??? It just seems a little high to me?

The first hour always costs the most. You'll find that the second and third hours are much less, but if any professional is going to tie up three hours (that's what one hour of playing comes to with setup and breakdown and then add travel time; another two hours?) they need to be compensated because they may or may not be able to get another gig for the day. Yes, that would be the going rate for the first hour per performer.
