Non-Traditional Music for Party (Long, sorry)

Non-Traditional Music for Party (Long, sorry)

I am looking for atypical but elegant music ideas for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and maybe even dessert hour or late-night brunch. My party is going to be at an old club/mansion with various rooms. I REALLY do not want to do the classical music for ceremony, jazz trio at cocktail hour, big band slow song, then faster music for the rest of the party formula b/c I have been to over 30 weddings. I want it to feel like a Jane Austen/19th century ball and I really love classical music but realistically that wouldn't be that fun b/c my guests can not waltz for 4 hours (or let alone 5 minutes). And, they aren't stuffy people. So, I am thinking of Classical music for first dance and dinner hour to get an old-world feeling and THEN a regular band that could read the crowd/play whatever they thought people want to dance to. So that leaves me with 1)a musician for people's arrival 2)ceremony 3)cocktail hour 4)dessert. I am at a loss about what other types of music could work. I was thinking about an ACAPELLA group for the ceremony, but I'm not sure that would work.

I can help you with exactly what you are looking for. I give seminars to Bridal Consultants (people who earn their living doing this ) teaching them how to have guests come out of a wedding saying 'This was elegant, and not like every other cookie cutter wedding I have attended', how to spot and avoid problems in advance and most important how to avoid stress for the bride.Nothing has to be done-your personality is the cue-customized to your wishes. I would need to know the specific date, time and location of the wedding. I have provided the music for many Mansion Style weddings in the tri-state area and I know what works and what does not work.I am currently out of town-will return late Saturday and will be playing a wedding on Sunday with my personal band-reading the crowd just as you mentioned. You can reach me at my office Monday afternoon between 1 PM and 5 PM. I will be meeting with clients until 1 PM and then again from 5 PM on. Call me at (631) 754-0594 or email me at
[email protected].
