order of processional

order of processional

How do you arrange the order of your processional? I always thought that the girls and boys went in order of importance; ie: sisters and brothers, friends, etc. But I've been told that it should go in size order so that it looks uniform, since they are all important, why else would they be in the wedding party? I was just discussing with my fiance the order of things, and told him that his brother (one is his BM, one is a GM), will be walking down last b/c he is the tallest. He said he better be standing right next to my BM since he is my brother. But what if it hadn't worked out that way due to size of people? For example, my best friend is standing further away from me then my niece (who is 16) b/c of size. I'm very confused about this. Any ideas are appreciated!

Hi Bridget -

My wife and I have played lots (and I mean LOTS) of weddings, and believe me, there are no hard and fast rules. If the looks are important to you, then go with size, but the way I look at it, you'll have a seperate photo session anyway, so don't let the size thing cramp your style if you want a certain person to be next to you or your fiancee. Maybe the size thing makes sense, too, if you want your groomsmen and bridal party to match up as couples. The only thing that's consistent from wedding to wedding in the processionals we play are that the MOH comes right before the flower girl, who comes right before the bride.

Different strokes, etc . . . . but remember: all weddings are better with Live Music!!

Hello,

Harry is right there are no rules anymore, but keeping the people who you love closest to you as you speak the most important words you will ever speak does make good sense to me.

I admit that when I write a ceremony I do play to the camera but I don't write around the photos. So go with your hearts and remember height is a good thing to fall back on if all your attendants are loved equally and love you equally.

Just my opinion. I could be wrong ;^)

Wishing you both the wedding of your dreams followed many healthy happy years together.
