Do any of you know what couples use for a unity candle outdoors? I have been looking for some time now, and I can't seem to come up with outdoor candle holders appropriate for a wedding. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I was recently at an outdoor wedding where the bride used a pillar candle with a glass enclosure...sort of like a hurricane lantern??? They lit the candle with very long wooden matches.

Yes, it's a bit tricky but the glass is almost like a cylinder that bulges in the middle and is open on both ends. At the last one I did outside the bride and groom lit their tapers from the glassed in candles that were on the altar then when they lit the center one the maid of honor slipped the glass over it. Soaking the wick in oil makes it stay lit better as well. It's never really a matter of yes or no only how! Congratulations and may your wedding day be absolutely perfect for you and your beloved.

Great question! ... excellent resposes from April and Rebecca... I haven`t seen their suggestions put to use in 17 years as an entertainer. The typical candle is usually chosen and problems do often occur whereby the bride and groom couldn`t either light or keep the candle lit due to wind conditions. You may want to experiment with your arrangement beforehand by bringing it outside and giving it a go.
