Patken and online posting

I want to begin by thanking Jenn for contacting me about this and bringging this topice to my attention.
I think it is important to begin by mentioning this is not a package we offer or service. This was the first time doing it and I would probably say the last due to the response on this site. The bride from this Saturday event had requested this service, we explained to her it is not a regular service, however we would do our best to accomodate because it was important to her. She had her first grade students coming to see her as well as many other out of town guest who would otherwise never get to see her photos. She requested that we take photos of all her guest with their spouses or whoevever else they desired. She thought this would be a great idea because alot of people she knows never get a nice portrait of themselves when they are dressed up.
As far as the flyer, I take full responsibility for this, it was not a flyer though it was an open letter to their wedding guest. I was not attempting to advertise with this letter. I am an extremely detailed person who thinks it is important to state the facts. I did not want to mislead anyone into thinking they could print the photos or would be given them. I can now in retrospective look back and say this could appear to be an advertisement. I assure you it wasn't
Well I hope this clarifies the situation for those concerned and assure you will not see this on our website or price list anytime soon.
Thanks for listening , Doug

Re: Patken and online posting

this is what doug was referring to. i emailed him immediately and he assured me they don't do this, this was a post from someone other than me:

i recently attended my friend's church ceremony where patken was the photographer........after taking a few pictures outside, the assistant handed out a paper which listed the eventpix website where you could purchase some pictures from the wedding........i was wondering if they constantly hand this paper out throughout the night (i didn't attend the reception)--i got mixed feelings about this when i read what the paper said ''it is our pleasure to take a photo of you alone, or w/your spouse, family or anybody else at no charge''...--a part of me thought this was a good idea so that the guests could buy a pic and on the other hand i felt that it was just another way to make money off of someone's wedding--IMO i am paying the photographer a whole lot of $$$ and i think they should spend their time taking pics on what i paid them for........

I applaud you Doug for responding so quickly! I am not worried. I know I made a great choice when I hired Patken!

hi doug--
i was the one who posted that comment-----thank you for clearing that up--i know you have a reputable business that's why i was suprised to see this at the ceremony-

-i am glad that they requested it ( i saw two brides on the eventpix.com website from patken)--i didn't think it was a very bad idea--i just felt that the bride and groom should have the photographers full 'attention'--and not worry about people coming up to them for pictures---i know there is a list of must have pictures and i thought this would take away from that-BUT --since that is what they wanted-great!--i feel a lot better now!

- it is not a bad idea and if another bride wanted this type of service--i feel you should offer it to them---i just didn't know if that was your typical practice or not..........

one more thing--the reason why i posted that comment is b/c it really appeared to be an advertisement- .......so if you do decide to offer this service again--maybe say some where in the letter that this service was requested by the bride and groom........

Re: Patken and online posting

Thank you and I will take that under advisement.
It does seem like a great idea, however it is alot of work to upload and download photos while very tough to get the message out without giving the wrong impression. I would love to hear a brides perspective and ideas on a better way to do this. All ideas are welcome and much appreciated. Keep in mind though wording must be selctive as it is very easy to have someone get the wrong impression
Thanks Doug
