I booked a photographer who was not so keen on taking black and whites for me, even though this was important to me. Instead, he told me to take them all in color and then turn the ones I wanted into black and white. He wound up saying that they would take some black and whites if I really wanted. I don't know why I booked because now I have many doubts. I've been told this is probably bc they only have one photog on my job and need two to do black and white and color together. Do you agree? Should I forfeit my deposit and go with someone else if this is important to me? Also thank you pictures were not included in my package, and from what I hear this is bizarre as well. Thanks.

Yup. One photographer + probably one camera makes sense to use one film. That's because that's how 'it's always been done' and black + white is 'the latest trend.' It's called an add on to stay current with market trends.

However, if you want true 'photojournalism' you need two photographers, at least four cameras, + at least four different kinds of film. I don't know any other way to do it.

Sure, you can print black + white from color, but choosing a half dozen of the same pictures as were in color is not the same as hundreds of candids by a second photographer.

I have never heard of two photographers hired to do color and black and white. If a client wants one photographer solely for photojournalist B&W, that's understandable, but we have photographers competent enough to give you both. B&W is included in our service; we do not charge extra for B&W. Because photos are one of the only things that you will get to remember your wedding day by, it might be best to seek another photographer who will work with you based upon YOUR needs.
