We are having approx. 500 people at our wedding. Do you think it's imperative to have 2 photographers shoot a wedding, or is 1 photographer w/an assistant adequate? TIA!

Re: Photographers: I need an honest opinion
Hi Leena & Jommy,
You can definitely get great photographs with one photographer and an assistant. However, if you want to have photos of the bride and groom each getting ready, and if they are not nearby then a second photographer could be helpful. Sometimes I bring a second photographer who doubles as my assistant during parts of the ceremony (if indoors) and the reception. Obviously you can save some money by not having 2 photographers.
If you want a lot of photos of your guests a second photographer would be very useful -- especially with 500 guests. However many couples don't want to have that many photos of guests.
Please feel free to contact me and go over this topic in greater detail.
I'm photographing a wedding with 800 guests in June, and discussed this exact topic with them. In the end they opted to have me drive 5 minutes to photograph the groom getting ready and save the expense of a second photographer. Based on their expectations, needs, wants, and the nature of their wedding (Christian Indian), I think everything will be perfect.
We just covered a party last week. There were 1000 guests, at the party. We used four photographers. Therefore, we feel 2 photographers and an assistant would be adequate for your party.
We are quite accustomed to covering large parties. We can help you with logisitcs, and timing your day. This will enable you to enjoy the day to the fullest! We generally do work with two photographers.
Good Luck!
Please feel free to contact us, if we can be of further assistance.
