Question for all vendors.

Question for all vendors.

I don't know if this will make anyone uncomfortable but when I ask on the BHB board I get 50/50 response.
Am I supposed to tip someone if they own the company? Please help me. I don't want to offend anyone and I need to plan my budget.
TIA

Hi,

As an owner, I personally do not expect to be tipped for my services. But I think it depends on the circumstances. Is the owner alone performing the job? Are there employees assisting? You need to look at each case individually Sorry but I don't think I really helped here!

A tip is never insulting.
It is a THANK YOU for a job well done and appreciated.

Do owners expect to be tipped...........No.
Can you tip an owner...........sure.

That is a preference.

Good Luck!

The owners are my photographer and the DJ. They will both have assistants. The Photog will have one and the Dj will have an assitant and a separate singer. Thanks for everyones input.

Hi -

It's always a personal choice whether to tip a vendor or not, but I don't think the fact that these vendors are also the owners should keep you from tipping. It all depends on how happy you are with the job they do!

Hi Patricia and Stephen,

You don't have to tip any one really unless
it is built into a contract such as at many
wedding venues.
When dealing with a privately booked sole proprietor vendor and his/her staff, I think it is really up to you as to whether or not to tip the team or both the owner (who will also be working at your wedding) and his/her co-worker(s).
It is nice to tip if you feel that you have been provided with outstanding service and the person who provides you with the most time and also excellent service (who may happen to also be the owner) can certainly be considered to receive a gratuity as well if you are very happy with everything.
I have also sent you a forum mail about this topic as well.

I hope this helps!

My experience is that some people tip all involved in the wedding an others, none.
We never expect a tip although if it does happen it is greatly appreciated.

Re: Question for all vendors.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

I know you'll have a great time at The Vanderbilt.

Everyone has pretty much covered the bases, yet here is another thought.

I know my staff would rather be tipped for a job well done, rather than being fed a meal.

All in all, our people, including myself are fortunate to receive both.

Good luck
