Sqaure Invitations = No NO????

Sqaure Invitations = No NO????

I just stopped the post office to pick up some stamps and inquired about postage for square wedding invitations. They advised me against ordering square invites because even if I hand cancel them they still have to go through a sorter and more often than not the squares will jam and potentially damage the invite.

Has anyone else heard this? Unfortunately, I feel in love w/ a square invite and now I am unsure if I should order them.

I just made an inquiry for you- a friend of mine works in the post office... he said it sounds like they're exaggerating a little. He did say with any irregular shaped envelope, there runs the risk of having damage... but he said it would be minimal... the example he gave me- if you were sending out 1000 invites, out of those 2-or3-could get damaged.

I say go for it- especially if it's an invitation that you love... I have sent out & received square invitations in the past, and haven't had a problem yet.

Good luck! Laura--LA Productions [email protected]

Hi Skew,

I have to agree with Laura. My post man indicated that the chance of it getting damaged is very slight. He also said even regular envelopes run a small risk of getting damaged. He said not to worry.

I have not had any brides have a bad experience with them.

I say go for it!

Skew,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I agree with the other vendors...its a slight risk - I have never had a problem. The only thing I tell my brides is square ususally costs a few cents more to mail.

So, before you buy the stamps bring the complete invitation (include the directions to reception and out of town hotel info) to the post office and ask them to weigh it. 7 x 7 squares usually are .60 each.

Good Luck!

From my experience the square invitations have as much a change of getting ruined as regular mail does. It isn't worth worrying about. It just turns to maybe, and I stress maybe, one or two getting jammed......and you love the invite..........ORDER IT! The only thing is that it requires extra postage.

Good luck honey.....and congratulations!
