I am getting married in a church...are strings allowed in addition to the organ?
I just want strings for the bridal party and parent entry...do i need a full string quartet?
What would be a cheaper alternative?
How much will this run me?
Any suggestions?

Re: Strings for ceremony?
Each church has its own rules and regulations. Some churches allow strings -some do not. If you are allowed strings you will still have to pay for the organist. If you are having a full Mass you need the organist for the Psalms -they change weekly and the string performers would never know them. You can have a string trio- a string trio can do all the selections that a string quartet does-yet saves you the cost of the 4th performer. For many of the music selections you will need at least three string perfomers. Before you do anything-contact your church pastor-not your priest. The pastor has the final say. Once you get his permission-in writing-then go ahead. I can help you with a string trio or quartet.I can also help you with the music selections. I know which selections the church will and will not allow. I am familiar with many of the churches and their individual rules and regulations.I provide music at the churches all the time-when allowed. I have been able to convince several churches to use different music . Cure Of Ars Church in Merrick allowed my string quartet to play the music of Enya during a Mass. Yet another church would not allow 'Here Comes The Bride' to be played in the church-it had to be played outside the church by trumpets. Again-this is the rule of the pastor..I have the strings on CD and Cassette Tape. If the pastor says no- then drop it- there is nothing you will be able to do.He has the final word. If he says OK- then contact me. STAN WIEST A.STAN WIEST MUSIC (631) 754-0594 www.stanwiest.com/li_wedding_ceremony2.htm Featured in NEWSDAY June 2003 Bridal Issue-interviewed on Wedding Budgeting
