Video Q: Editing a Video

This might be a weird question, but is it possible to obtain the raw unedited footage from my wedding from my original videographer and have another company edit it for me? Are there any videography companies that would be willing to do this? Is there special permission needed from the original company?

I really do not want to deal with this particular company anymore and I think I would like the my wedding video edited somewhere else.

Thanks for any assistance
