I have just started getting in touch with videographers and a couple that I have talked to said that they leave the reception after the cake is cut. Is that normal? It seems to me that there is a good 2- 2 1/2 hours left of the reception after the cake is cut. Aren't they missing out on a lot the good stuff?

Videographer Leaving Early
The cake is usually cut 'bout an hour before the end. If you throw the bouquet + dance w/parents the videographer would normally stay for that. And yes, it's true tha not much happens after that. Eat cake and people saying goodnight. That's it. It's really fine for both videographer and photographer to leave at this time.

Videographer Leaving Early
Hi,
My name is Jennifer from In The Mix D.J. Service. The Video studio we work with stays until the end. They are the Queens Bridal Center of Mineola. If you want the whole wedding taped, make sure you get a video guy that covers the whole event. I am also just answering your question, and not giving a sales pitch.

Although most photographers do in fact leave after the cake-cutting and dances with parents, etc. , most of the videographers I work with stay until the end or leave early only if many of the guests have left. There is certainly more to come after the cake-cutting and dances with parents as far as our plans for entertainment are concerned. I would expect that you would want your entire event covered from the first to last dance!
