I would really appreciate any tips that people can give me to help me stay within budget. I am getting very caught up in the whole wedding thing. It is just so hard to remember that this is one day. I feel like I am spending so much money but I know that things on LI cost so much more than other places. Just looking for how other brides made decisions and saved.

Ways to stay within budget
This possible problem is one of the many reasons why Photos of the Heart offers bride and grooms well over 100 packages, not just a few. They have photographed weddings from $600 to $10,000... and everywhere inbetween. By seeing vendors that are flexible photographically and financially, all bride and grooms can get what they need and can afford...no more and no less. Photographing weddings for 15 years means Photos of the Heart
can offer specific suggestions on how to save on flowers, dresses, limos, etc.

Ways to stay within budget
You should only do what you think is important for you. What would bring you the most pleasure? The music and dancing? Ambiance of the venue? Photography for after the wedding? Flowers + gowns?
I basically see the wedding planning (and day) as a prelude to the marriage. A time for the two of you to start defining and refining your relationship. One day may or may not be too important, depending on how important the memory and the process is. (My wife and I are having a joint 50th birthday party on Sunday, so we're also going through it to a lesser degree. For us, the garden is most impoortant so we've been spending most of our time tending that. We've also been taking care of many small jobs in the house that we've wanted to do for years. The party gives us a good reason. So not only are we looking forward to seeing all the people we've invited, but we've improved our home and relationship in the process.) Anyway, yes of course work with vendors who are flexible. We also have all custom 'packages' ranging from one hour coverage to two days and multiple albums (or none.)
There are many ways to balance all your goals and desires and still keep grounded in reality. The last thing you want is to regret anything later.
Good luck

Re: Ways to stay within budget
Dear Michele, Look at my editorial website on Budgeting For Wedding Music http://www.stanwiest.com/wedding_music_budgeting2.htm There are many ideas for you to consider that will help you. One of the biggest problems brides have is going over budget and then finding themselves in a financial bind when they return from the honeymoon. You should set a specific limit and try to stay at that limit . A lavish - expensive wedding may be a dream for some couples but it may cause a nightmare financially when they start they new lives together. Be careful. Hope this was of help to you.
