Can you please tell me how much time is needed for pictures at Oheka? Including pictures outside church
It all depends on how quickly (or slowly) the photographer you hire works. Some photographers spend up to two hours meticulously posing each group and carefully paying attention to every detail. I work very quickly and spontaneously and can do ALL the family and bridal party group posed formal portraits in 15-30 minutes (at the church after the ceremony would be the quickest) and then another 15 minutes or so with the two of you @ Oheka walking around the grounds and taking fun, informal pictures. You need to decide which style you prefer before setting up the scheduling of your day. I think that the best scheduling is for your guests to go directly from the church to the reception (just add 15-30 to the travel time for posed pictures.) As your guests are getting into their cars, we're finishing the posed family pictures and everyone arrives @ the same time a few minutes before the cocktail hour starts and we take that walk around the grounds without missing any of the cocktail hour. Otherwise, where do your guests go in between if there is any kind of a break? They usually get something to eat before dinner!!
Hi, I believe you spoke to my husband, Rich, this morning, but in response to your question, Mark pretty much summed up what we do as well. Again, every photographer works differently. Depending on the style, either very posed (which will take a much longer time) or photojournalistic (where the photos are more casual) and they will then go quicker. Because we work with two photographers taking photos, one usually is taking full shots of the wedding party, while the other is taking reactions or close ups. We can work very quickly. again, not to repeat Mark, but it usually takes 15-30 minutes in total. For the photos that are taken after the actual church ceremony, only you will know how many guests are expected or invited which will determine your receiving line. But that is only a rough estimate, as I have had a little group appear at church and tell you their life story and I have had huge groups, who move very quickly! Then there is the posed shot of the bridal party at the church, and then there is the rose petal or bubble type of photos and a few around the limos. We usually opt to take families at church only because it is the families which you are interested in seeing and not scenery, per se, and when they are all lined up you usually don't see much of the plantings anyway. We usually pick something grassy with trees or whatever that makes for a nice backdrop. The benefit of doing them there rather than Oheka, is the fact that if your grandpa or uncle, say, stops at a store for cigarettes or whatever, then you have to wait until they arrive to do any of them causing major delays. Whereas, if they are at the church, it goes rather quickly with them stepping in and stepping out of specific shots and then they are left on their own to proceed to the reception at their pace not the photographers. All in all the photos at the church take maybe 30 miinutes or so from the end of the ceremony till your actually pulling away from the curb. Hope this helps somewhat, but, the actual photographer you hire will go over his specific scheduling for this type of thing and remember this is just a rough guide and will be different for each of us.
