Winter Wedding Question- Halls, Photo, etc
I've been planning on a December wedding, but now I have my reservations. We're having an interfaith wedding, so the ceremony will be at the hall, and I wonder if it would be more romantic to have an outdoor ceremony in the spring? Is there anywhere that's pretty in the winter? I'm also concerned about photos. All of the wedding photos I see are outdoors in springtime. What kind of photos can we get in the winter? What makes winter a good season to get married?

Re: Winter Wedding Question- Halls, Photo, etc
Hi,I'm not a hall or photographer, but I can offer my humble opinion
Spring and summer weddings are poplular because of the advantage of having the ceremony and pictures outdoors. You also have longer daylight hours for photographs among the flowers and greenery outdoors. Many places though have spectacular indoor displays such as Flowerfield's with their ponds and lush greenery inside. The room is entirely glass so you can have a winter wonderland view of outside while inside a tropical garden. The indoor decorations are wonderful this time of year.
I think you can make any wedding special no matter the date. The most important thing is how YOU feel about it and make it your day!

Re: Winter Wedding Question- Halls, Photo, etc
Looking at the 2 of you in your photo, I wonder how could your wedding not be romantic! Think of all the lights and the way you are the light of one another's lives! It will be awesome. The halls all have books with pictures of past weddings for you to look at when you go shopping for your location as will your photographer. I'm sure there will be some winter weddings to look at. But all in all your wedding will be beautiful and romantic because you don't have to settle for anything less. Besides if a wedding is a reflection of all that you are and already have together (judging from your picture) once again, how could it not be!L&L

Re: Winter Wedding Question- Halls, Photo, etc
Hi Marymoon,Winter weddings are absolutely wonderful. I too got married in the winter. Your whole theme can be a winter wonderland especially if it snows!
As many of the other vendors already mentioned, December is a time that all of the catering halls decorate even more ellaborate than normal for the holidays so I think you will have a great backdrop for your pictures. Remember, what is more romantic than the two of you snuggled together on a cold winter day!
I sent you some FM with some ideas.

Re: Winter Wedding Question- Vendors?
Thanks so much for all of your help! You convinced me! I'm going to stick with a winter wedding because that was what I had initially imagined! FH and I both love Christmastime (even though he's Jewish), and I think it would be so cozy with candles and a fireplace going!I initially thought that it would be cheaper in December, but someone pointed out to me that there are a lot of xmas parties at that time, so it might not actually be cheaper. ANy thoughts from vendors?

Try checking out having your wedding on a yacht. They are heated and really something different and unique for your guests. You may find that prices are very reasonable and they offer everything and then some you can possibly want...Capt. Arnold

Re: Winter Wedding Question- Halls, Photo, etc
Hey there,I am a vendor here on the site, and came across your question. I felt I had to share my experience, being that I was in the same predicument not too long ago. I got married in Dec of 2002, Dec. 28th to be exact. I was a bit hesitant also, but loved the way the place looked for the holidays. We got married at the Estate at Eastwind in Wading River, we also had a interfaith wedding and let me tell you, they made the place look beautiful in and out. And I have no regrets. I was also worried about pictures. We took some outside my home, and outside the wedding hall, and they all look so wintery and pretty. There was a little snow on the ground and it just came out perfect!!! The weather was great too, that was also a huge concern of mine. But, it turned out to be about 40 degrees and sunny...I will admit it was chilly out, but not as bad as it could have been. Most of the time the really bad cold and bad weather comes around January and Feb. I am not sure where you are getting married, but I am sure where ever it is, it will look beautiful, especially around X-mas time, I am sure they will have it decorated lovely for the holidays!! Also most places have lots of areas on-site for you to get really nice photos!!
Well, good luck in whatever you decide, keep us posted, and if you need winter favor Ideas, I have loads of unique beautiful ideas!!!

Re: Winter Wedding Question- Halls, Photo, etc
I think a winter wedding is beautiful...as a matter of fact I chose to get married this November 26th because so many of my brides were rained on this past summer and I didn't want the anxiety of worrying about the weather. You just need to focus more on the inside of the church and the inside of the reception hall, many of which are already festive and nicely decorated at that time of the year.Whatever you decide, just make sure you enjoy the day!
