Buying each other shoes- are you superstitious?
Hi.I am the most superstitious person alive.
Well one thing I have always been told is 'Never buy a man shoes because he will either walk out of your life or walk all over you' I think it is the same vice versa?
Have you heard of this, do you believe in it?
My co worker just told me that her boyfriend bought her shoes for her birthday, I held my tongue and did not say anything, but you know what I was thinking.
What are your thoughts????

If I did not buy shoes for my husband, he'd be walking around barefoot.

I have never heard that one before. So, I don't believe it.How does it work? Do you have to physically pay for the shoes? Does this apply if you are together and he hands the salesperson the money for your shoes?

I have bought 4 pairs of shoes for FH during our relationship and if anything, he is more attentive. I bought him all weather suede comfort from LLBean and he liked them so much he wanted them in other colors.

I never heard that about shoes, but all I know is you should never accept pearls from a man. That's VERY 'bad' !!

I want to know why as well. I received pearl earrings from FH last year for V-day.

My aunt wanted to give me pearls for my wedding, but a friend of hers told her no- becuase that means her marriage will be full of tears or something to that effect.

So that means we are all on our own to get our own pearls?? Some man came up with that one

Re: Buying each other shoes- are you superstitious?
Sorry! I hadn't realized that everyone responded to my post!I guess it does have something to do with a foreshadowing of tears to come.
My mother always says: 'NO PEARLS!'
It's okay because I like diamonds better anyway
P.S. I've heard of the no shoes on the table too!
My mothers father was Scottish. Apparently he had a plethora of superstitions!

Re: Buying each other shoes- are you superstitious?
Geez.. and I really thought I was superstitious by nature.. but I had honestly never heard that. Must be cultural?I buy Jim all his shoes.. and he usually ends up buying mine. Just happens that when he needs shoes I have the money on my card so I pay and opposite when I need shoes.
It's not as if I'm BUYING him shoes.. WE are buying him shoes.. afterall we're married!
Interesting superstition tho.
Still when I was single and even to this date.. Jim never just 'buys' me shoes.. we go shoe shopping but to buy a woman a pair of shoes is risky.. if they don't fit well or don't like them!!! Same goes for men. JMHO

Re: Buying each other shoes- are you superstitious?
I've never heard of any of these. I'm not big on superstitions. If something bad happens to me it won't be because I walked under a ladder last week. However, I never put my shoes on the table or the bed....they're dirty.

Re: Buying each other shoes- are you superstitious?
I think superstitions vary by culture and what may be good luck for one is bad luck for another. My parents gave me my pearl strand and matching earrings. Best friend gave us all (Bridesmaids) pearl earrings for her wedding. FH gave me pearl earrings. I believe they are all good things
