Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

I just was married last week by him and I am telling all brides that are ever thinking of using him, to do their best to avoid it. He is a fake and he took advantage big time. He added $100 to the bill out of no where, even after we discussed the price and I signed his paperwork, so I just paid it, I couldnt argue with a priest. Then he called me after our meeting and he was all paid up and told me... 'your ceremony has to start 15 mins earlier, I have to catch a flight'. There was nothing for me to do. I told Oheka Castle, and they said they cant start until my guests arrive. I had a 5pm invite and a 530 ceremony start. He wanted to start at 515 to catch his flight. He came up to 'me' the nervous bride about to walk down the aisle, and pointed at his watch at 5:08 and said, we have to go. I almost lost it. My bridal attendant told him, 'you should have never booked a flight on a night you had a job, we will not start a ceremony without any guests here.' I was livid at this man. So we start the ceremony, which I had programs printed and the whole layout of the ceremony was seen by everyone. This S.O.B. skipped EVERYTHING!!!!!! He was supposed to give me a 25-30 minute ceremony...it was 5 MINUTES... and 3 of those minutes were from the readings my aunts read. My unity candle sat there, he skipped over it, he did no homily, a memorial, and he rushed his words. The only thing I remember is him telling us to 'kiss' and shoved us back up the aisle. All this for $550!!! I also paid a harpist to play for the ceremony and he didnt even get to play the songs i picked cause everything was skipped. He didnt even know to play the recessional song until I was halfway back up the aisle because he didnt even believe we were done!!!!
Please spread the word. I have tried numerous times to contact him and I have gotten no response. I told Oheka who recommended him to me, and I hope they don't let him back there. He was the only catholic priest on thier Vendor list that you have to use.

Thanks for listening :)

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

Umm wow, how horrible, I can't believe that! I really think I would punch the guy in the middle of the ceremony. I'm sorry he messed up your ceremony like that. Oheka should really not recommend someone who does so poor of a job, too. I hope you can get this resolved somehow.

On the other hand, congrats on your wedding!! Hopefully you can put him out of your mind and focus on all the amazing things about your day as you enjoy your time as a newlywed But it was nice of you to come on and warn unsuspecting brides about this.

I did read a review on here that he backed out last minute on someone's wedding and sent a replacement.

Congratulations on your wedding!

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

We had MAJOR issues with him as well!
To summarize:

1) He refused to start the ceremony at the right time and I said fine let me put on my lipgloss and he said no and blamed my in-laws saying the kids were getting too rowdy! He had another wedding to get to that he booked after us. He did the same thing to me, he barged in and made me leave when I told him I jsut needed a few seconds.

2)He also tried to argue with us on the amount but we had it in writing. He actually yelled at me when I called him about this because he was driving. Then don't pick up!

3) He totally butchered our ceremony. Like...what was the point of spending all that time putting together our choices if he was going to do this hippy thing that he did? He skipped everything we picked, too.

4) He said we were going to do a pre cana and meet 3 or 4 times before and even getting to meet with us for 5 minutes twice was a big deal. When I asked him about this he said he'd meet with us again only if we drove out to Hampton Bays.

He really is running a heck of a business, a bride FM'd me about him recently and I told her everything else in detail.

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

There's a post on the Knot Long Island boards about him. SOmething about that he passes himself off as a Roman Catholic priest when in reality he's no longer a Roman catholic, he belongs to this 'american catholic church' which is not recognized by the Vatican. It was sketchy. I wish I could post a link but my computer is being weird right now and won't let me open another page.
I'm really sorry this happened to you. Thank you for the warning.

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

Thanks for reading girls. I can't believe the amount of FM and responses I received on this 'fake'!!!!!

Tiffany, I am so glad you left a message to cancel. I have gotten absolutely no response from him after emails and messages. I am fighting for my $550 back. Although the money means nothing. It's the point. I've received mail that he has even been on 'shame on you' in the news.

If I have to get in my car and search him down, I will do it. I should have known, I am usually good at pointing out fakes.

I am on my honeymoon and I am so livid over this. I will fight for myself and all the other brides that had the most important part of their wedding ruined.

Thanks for all the good wishes girls :) I will contact everyone who FM'd me on questions for Oheka as soon as I get back :)

He told us he was a Roman Catholic Priest and would do a traditional Catholic Ceremony. One of the girls on her FM'd me and said he was a Reformed Catholic Priest but at that point it didn't matter to me because he said he'd do the Catholic ceremony because he had been a RC priest for years.

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

He is reformed, but your ceremony won't be recognized in the eyes of the RC Church. If you're looking for just a religious ceremony, that's ok. Aside from this, his lack of professionalism is worrisome.

We considered him, and he told me he was a Roman Catholic priest, but I already knew from here that he was not.

We went with someone else

Does anyone now a priest that will marry you outside the walls of a church. We're getting married in June in a garden setting and we're hoping to find a priest that will marry us. Any help would be fantastic!!

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

A priest that is still with the Catholic church won't. We tried and even know someone that works for the Diocese or Rockville Centre. He has to ask permission to the Bishop (or someone) to do it outside the church. He said it would be even harder to do it outside b/c it should be indoors.

Re: Officiant Father Robert (Bob) Allman

My cousin who is a priest has told us that any Roman Catholic Priest wont marry you outside the church because it has to be on consicrated grounds. If they are willing to do so then it wont be recongized in the eyes of the church.
