I'm going to get to visit my friend in Australia!!! And swim with Great Whites!!!
I'm so, so, so EXCITED.
One of my best friends lives in Australia for grad school (marine biology) and lives really close to the Great Barrier Reef. She's graduating sometime in January 2012...DH and I were planning a trip to Bangladesh for around that time, so we've figured that I can fly from Bangladesh to Australia and visit her! We're going to do a week-long road trip!
I HAVEN'T SEEN HER SINCE 2007. We've been friends since we were 14 and our friendship since 1999 was mostly via phone, email and online chatting in the years since she went away to school. And yet, though we don't have the 'face time' that most friendships have, we've remained so close throughout the years.
And on top of this goodness....she and I are going to be SWIMMING WITH GREAT WHITES!!!!!!
DH isn't thrilled about that even though we will be in cages and whatnot. But he's not going to Australia, so whatEVER!
Side note...for those that have been on the board for a long time...this is the friend that lived in a tent in Hawaii, hitch-hiked to work on a daily basis, and pooped in a hole. 'Memba that?

I definitely plan on investing into a good underwater camera...unless my friend has one, which she might since she's studying marine bio.
I'm beyond excited over it.
DH said he hopes I lose an arm to a shark so that for the rest of my life I'll be reminded of how stupid I was to attempt to swim with sharks (while being protected by a cage). Pssshhhh. I told him that if I only lose one arm, at least I'd have the other one to smack him around with.
