Hi all. Just wanted to ask you guys a questions. For those who bought there bridal wear in NY, can you please post the stores that you got them? As I read most of you got your clothing from India. I however don't know anyone there, so wont be going there.
Thanks in advance.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Hey I know how it feels looking for an apartment. We still have time but already started looking. It's hard because I'm going to be living with my FMIL as well, so all 3 of us want different things in and around the apartment and it makes it soooo difficult so I know what you're going through. We live in Queens now and are probably gonna stay here as well.Hey ggcopying, since you're having a sikh wedding as well, are your bridesmaids gonna have bouquets while entering into the reception hall?? I know they don't really have them at the ceremony but I think I still want them. What do you think???

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
craznanI am not having bm for my sikh wedding ceremony. I am having BM for my Christian wedding. but I dont' see a problem with BM in the sikh ceremony. You have to walk down with many gilrs anyway, I think bouqets are nice. Only thing is you have to think about r u going to have 1 also? and your FMIL is okay with you holding a Bok?
RVG, I just went thru that 2 months ago. I am liviing in queens, and craig's list is a lot better than an broker. Which area you are looking?
How about other girls? I hope everyone is doing great!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I'm looking in Bayside as well. It's soooo difficult right now because you got all the college kids lookin for apartments as well. It sux looking for a place. RGV, how's the rest of the planning comming along??gg copying - I was thining to have the bm hold the bouquets for the reception entrance in the evening and the ceremony in the morning, but I will most likely only have a bouquet for the reception in the evening since I have to be proper for the sikh ceremony. Then at least, I can incorporate the bouquet toss during the recpetion. Basically, the way i'm planning it is since my FMIL wants a traditional sigh ceremony in the morning, i'm gonna incorporate the western traditions during the reception. At least I can get a little something I want you know!!!!!
How's all your planning coming along??
Also, when you guys booked your honeymoons, did you go thru a travel agent, directly thru the hotel, or own your own??? I want a good place and I don't wanna get ripped off. Any suggestions??

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
craznanI know how u feel, I think boK is fine, I have another question, so you are throwing your own boK or you are getting another 'throwing boK'? (my florist asked me that do I want a throwing bok coz many brides do that) but since I don't have a lot of single friends or they are too young so I am not doing it.
I am using Liberty Travel, and she is great, (I went to the one on Lev. and 57th)
RGV, your dress is very pretty!!! Love it!
Sue, I won't be attending my cocktail hour, we are using that time to take pictures

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
RGV, that dress is beautiful and you look great!Sue, I don't think I'm going to attend cocktail hour but I will be in the reception hall at that time. I have a huge bridal suite at the hall that has a big table also so we can still have some of the cocktail food, but not in the actual cocktail room.
ggcopying, I think I will be throwing my own bouquet. I don't see a purpose in keeping it or spending the money for another one you know. Most of my friends are old enough and there are quite a few single ones.
Where are you going for your honeymoon? I heard stories that Liberty Travel tends to rip people off. Did you get a good deal???
RGV, also, did you book your honeymoon through american express??Or does Tom have his own agency and deals with american express travel??

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
craznanOur travel agent is very nice, I think we got a good deal, the only thing was, I wish I knew Jet blue fly to Aruba before we booked our HM, coz we will have 1 connection flight back becasue we booked AA. but regarding the package, we did a lot of research, she did a pretty good job finding us the best deal. She actually recommended us not to book the HM deal becuse the one we have is a lot cheaper and we are not losing much. (HM deal just some rose petal on the bed, a bottle of wine and 1 sunset dinner by the beach which she said we can book it cheaper on site or eat at our balcony) So far we are happy with her.
