part 2 of my honeymoon question (kauai)

for those of you who went to kauai.......same questions as my maui questions-just substituting w/kauai!!

where did you stay-hotel?

what room did you get in that hotel & did you upgrade when you were there (was it a free upgrade b/c you were on your honeymoon or did you have to pay) (i have heard that once you tell them you are on your honeymoon they will upgrade you for free--true?)

how many days were you there

what did you do--what tours & and what sightseeing

if you rented a car--which place did you rent from

edited to say thanks in advance and sorry for sooo many questions

i went to kauai in november...stayed at the hyatt which was very nice...but we also drove up by where the princeville resort is, and that was GORGEOUS!! it's just that the weather there was not as sunny as at the hyatt...do not count on the free upgrades....we only got champagne at every hotel....definitely see the na pali coast, either by helicopter or day cruise....also, go to waimea canyon (i think thats kauai), fern grotto, turtles beach....the island is sooo small that you can literally drive up the coast in a couple of hours....so take a couple of day trips just driving around....we used the 'hawaii for dummies' book while we were there, which was great....we rented a convertible (camaro) from alamo at the airport....kauai was my favorite island, i think you will find it beautiful!!!

we also stayed at the hyatt. its a beautiful hotel and very very good service (but no upgrades). we did get champagne and a coupon for a desert at the hotel restaurant though.

we didn't do much in the way of touristy stuff there. kauai is very beautiful and very quiet. we stayed there only 3 days so we just wanted to soak it all in rather than run around.

one thing that we loved at the hyatt was the anara spa. they have one of the best spas in the country. if you like massages, facials, etc.... you'll love this place!

we rented a car from alamo, who i think gave us a tiny upgrade for being honeymooners. no one else really cared that we were on our honeymoon though!

Kauai - It is soooo beautiful. We stayed at the Hyatt as well. I loved the hotel. It is big and the room was just average but I really enjoyed my stay there. We had nothing but fabulous service the hole time we were there.

I can remember wat we booked but I think we wound up with a partial oceanview room. (not sure if that is what we booked or if they upgraded us - -if they upgraded up they didn't tell us). DH wasn't with me when we checked in so I was too shy to ask for the upgrade like he did in Maui. The only thing included in our package was a bottle of champagne (or wine). We didn't get any honeymoon freebies or upgrades. A few times we got free dessert coupons to use at dinner (the reservationist in the hotel gave it to us whne we had them book dinner for us outside of the hotel restaurants.

I only stayed there three days and wished I stayed 4 or 5 (I did 7 in Maui).

We did the helicopter tour and is was fabulous. It explored the Napoli coast. We drove to the end of the islan done day. That was fun and only took like 3 hours with stopping. We did most of our sightseeing in one day. We also drove to the other end of the island to a pretty beach on the bumpiest road ever. We saw pretty sunsets! The other days we enjoyed the hotel and the pools (love the salt water pool!!!! the water is like bath water).

On our drive we also stopped and looked at the Princeville resort and it was gorgeous but the weather there was foggy where as it was sunny and perfect by the Hyatt!

We rented a convertible from Alamo. Rental car was included in our package but we upgraded for $20/day to a convertible. It was worth it!

The Italian restaurant in the Hyatt was great Dondellos. The beach house at sunset is great too! The Plantation house wasn't just ok.

Enjoy and Have fun ! Let me know if you have questions.

Has anyone stayed at the Club Level rooms at any of the Hyatts? Just wondering if they were nicer rooms or just came with better amenities. Thanks.
