Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
Honestly, the whole day felt so surreal to me, like a dream. I don't even remember waking up and taking my shower. It flies by so quickly. Slow it down by paying attention, holding hands, talking to your friends/family, dancing the night away. Notice all of your hard work, notice the details- because yes, they do matter.

I've been thinking the same thing. As we get closer to the day, time is going faster and faster. The day is going to look like a blur!

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
at the reception, take a step back. Be alone by your self for a little bit. Just look around. Take it all in. Realize every person who is there in attandance is there because they love and support you. Then look around and take notice of all the hard work you put into planning that perfect day. Pay attention to detail, look at the table cloths, napkin colors, chair covers, flowers, dresses, shoes, everythig you did to make the day magical - then give yourself a pat on the back.

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
I got up early... had a massage courtesy of my brother, who had a coworker come to the house!! My 2 girls & my 2 sisters were with me at my moms nice & early too, we had bagels, coffee & MIMOSAS!!! Took plenty of time getting ready, had adequet time for pictures which we did pre ceremony. I think the beginning of your day will set your pace!! My friends say I am a control freak & expected me to loose it when we encountered a problem, but I took it all in stride because I was relaxed & had a great beginning to the day!!

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
I feel like being funny, when I saw this question I said to myself post a response of walk slower The only thing I can say is plan something casual after. Or a BBQ or eats at your home or parents home etc

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
There is really no 'true' way to slow down you wedding day. All I can say is ENJOY it and cherish every moment you have with your loved ones. Dont worry about every little detail. Just HAVE FUN!!!!

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
I honestly don't remember reciting our vows as all the 18 months (1 1/2 years) of planning went by so fast with a blink of an eye. I was so depressed for the next 4 months afterwards, but our marriage is great. I suffered Post-Wedding Depression because of this. Afterwards I just find ways and things to do relating to our wedding such as keepsaking and preserving our special day. Scrapbooking, etc.
I can only say this: enjoy your day to the fullest! Take advantage of that 'king and queen' feeling as it's your big day.
I agree with being alone and steeping back and looking...

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
I think a better way to take it all in and slow down the memories is to get a video! Take it from me who didn't and totally regrets it!
Slowing down my day helped by being at our cocktail hour (we got married at the same place)...being able to talk to a lot of people then and not using the reception for it helped my day go a bit slower...

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
I never felt that my wedding day went too fast. I think the #1 reason is because I was really calm. I had a 5 minute cant-breathe-panic-attack as soon as I woke up and then I was fine! Make sure to have everything ready and leave nothing to do for the wedding day except to show up and look beautiful! Also, I think that after a while I didn't care about anything except that we were all there and happy and having fun.

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
shamma! LOL!
I am just one of those people that if I am busy doing things, I dont remember anything. I want to have memories of my day so every little piece of advice helps. It saddens me to know that all this planning all this time -- and it will alll be over in a few hours...Luckily my reception ends kinda early and we plan on going back to the hotel and hanging out with closest family and friends for a while longer...
THANK YOU GIRLS

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
Someone gave me this piece of advice:
Eat a Piece of Cake
Why? I asked.
The response: Because by this time, the day is almost over. Take this time to look around and take everything in. Remember the joy of your day.

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
Teresa, that's great advise!
Shamma - too funny
I basically agree with everyone else, take a couple of seconds to stop and look around. It's so amazing to see all the people near and dear to you celebrating your marraige. It'll be your own personal photograph that you can always carry with you.

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
My cousin gave me some advice similar to what has already been posted. She told me that as I stepped to the beginning of the aisle I should pause there and look at everyone in the church and set it in my mind. I did and I'm so glad. I also made a very conscious effort to listen very carfully to the priest and it helped keep me in the moment.
I wish we had a video of the ceremony - that's my one regret of the day.

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
stay sober (just kidding, to an extent!) We completely enjoyed ourselves, and when you're having a good time, the day just flies by - you can't help it! But I did a few things to help slow it down:
took the entire ceremony in - I wasn't sidetracked with how I looked, or what someone else should be doing, and really listened to the homily - it was beautiful, and is now forever etched into my memory We took pictures prior to the ceremony, which extended the day and made it less stressful after the ceremony.

Re: How To Slow Your Wedding Day Down
i was so excited and nervous when we got to the church...i looked into the church and saw so many people and got all caught up. I was looking around and saying hi to people, and before I knew it we were at the alter. I never cherished that walk down the aisle with my dad. On the tape, there is actually a point where he looks over at me, and I am just looking to the side. And we are very close. I wish I could do it over again, I really do. Hope that helps!
