Update: DID NOT close on coop

Update: DID NOT close on coop

Yes, you read that correctly, we were supposed to close yesterday morning, but on Weds at 4:30 I got a call from my attorney, who was fuming on the phone b/c the seller's attorney called him and said that certain papers called 'stock and lease' were filed, but not received back in time for the closing.
If we acted like the seller, we would have called him to let him know that he can't blame it on our attorney and mortgage company anymore. His attorney screwed up twice, first not telling him that he had to be out by closing date and now with the papers not being ready. But, this guy is such a jerk it's not even worth it.

So, we have no rescheduled closing date yet. Yup, I'm 5 weeks away from my due date, so I'm trying really, really hard to accept that a newborn baby does not need much space, he/she will need my breastmilk or formula, a place to sleep, diapers and clothes, and of course us to hold him/her. I'm trying to think of worse things that could be happening, and I'm glad that we have a roof over our heads. Although our landlord is not going to be happy since they will be closing on the place pretty soon.

Most likely the closing will be in the next week or two, but I've been saying that for months, so I need to have plan B. The crazy thing is that this past weekend we packed up so much more stuff, my sister and SIL came over to pack up the kitchen, we left 2 mugs, 2 bowls and a frying pan out!! I'm trying to stay positive and know that there's a solution for everything. It's not easy, but what can we do??

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. But it sounds like you are taking everything in stride. Keep focusing on the positive. It sounds like you have a loving supportive family that is willing to help out. You will be in your new home with your beautiful new baby in no time.

Niha-
What a total pain in the a$$. I would get some paper plates and just try to eat out (cheaply, of course) some nights. I am SOOOO sorry that this is happening.
But you are right. A baby doesn't need a co-op or a house. He/she needs a safe, comfty place to sleep and that can be in your apartment if need be. Yeck, a baby doesn't know the difference between a laundry basket and a crib, as long as they are snug and happy.
So try to remain calm (do as I say, not as I do ) and focus on the fact that this WILL get done soon.

Re: Update: DID NOT close on coop

Thanks for your well wishes everyone. I was really down the last 2 days, and I guess I sound more positive in my post. There's no point in sulking anymore I should be enjoying the last few weeks of my pregnancy, I'm trying to move on from this and just do what's needed for plan B - that is possibly being in our current apartment with a newborn.

It's so hard, b/c statistically speaking I should be late since this is my first, and I haven't had any complications and don't plan to induce. However, I will be full term in 2 more weeks so anything is possibl. I will talk to DH about maybe moving some of the packed boxes that we absolutely don't need to a storage facility so that we have more room. If anyone has any other advice or planning tips, please let me know!

That's terrible!!
I'd definately look into moving some of those boxes out. Maybe you could talk the seller into letting you put some of your stuff in the coop before you close?
When my parents sold the house they got along really well with the buyers and let them move some of their things in AND paint a few days before the scheduled close.

Either way, you need more space. Your all cramped and crowded and it's stressing you out and stress is NOT GOOD FOR YOU!!
Hope it all works out SOON.

So sorry Niha!!!! I hope this mess gets resolved soon, but try not to let it get to you too much!! The baby will be fine as long as he/she has you to love and care for him, which he/she will have!!!
