3 weeks to go and very upset - UPDATE, INCLUDING HAIR TRIAL PICTURES (OPINIONS NEEDED!) AND SOME PIX FROM FITTING

Wasn't going to post today at all b/c I took yesterday off when my mom came down to DC and now I am absolutely SWAMPED at work but I just needed to vent. Mom and I had a lovely weekend. It was great spending time together just the two of us. And the weather couldn't have been better on my day off yesterday!

EXCEPT...when I went for my final fitting, the dress was TOO TIGHT! I couldn't really breathe. After I had it on for a while, I felt a little better. The seamstress asked if I wanted to let it out but I just didn't know what to do. I felt like maybe I had just gained some weight that I should lose again and it would be ok. I don't want to be uncomfortable at my wedding but I also want the dress to look nice and I don't want to feel like a fat slob like I did when it was too tight.

THEN DF went to go pick up our rings and the store had MISENGRAVED mine. I have a tiny, thin, size 4-3/4 band and for some reason they decided to use a HUGE block letter font! Which, of course, didn't fit so now the words run off the band. They sent it back and tried again but it didn't look any better. Now they are sending it to their 'home office' for one more try. I am so upset! Is the constant re-engraving going to damage my ring? Are they even going to get it right?? What my ring says is half a phrase...the other half is on DF's ring (which was ALSO done in those nasty block letters instead of a nice script!!) so if they can't do it, we'll have to think of a new thing for BOTH rings. ARGH!!

And now the latest trauma...I called the hair salon where I am having my trials done on Sunday (THIS Sunday, which I booked MONTHS ago and reconfirmed just last month last time I was in NY) and found out that not only do they NOT have the makeup artist in that day (W T F !!! ) but also the hairstylist I was supposed to have, the one I've already met with twice and showed the pix of my hair trial here in DC, and who I REALLY liked, is in the hospital!! They don't know when she'll be back and are trying to find someone else who can do my trial and, I guess, then would have to do my hair for the wedding. I'm so worried about the stylist in the hospital and so upset about the whole thing. I live 300 miles away...it's not like I can just pop in someday and have them do a trial!!!

Oh honey! THis is normal, girlie! Can you try Cactus Salon in Mayfair for hair and makeup? It's RIGHT by the church....

I have a makeup trial with Jillian Eisenberg (Gorgeous Faces, now working out of Cactus in Mayfair)...maybe she can take you on Sunday? She's a sweetheart....call her! And isn't there a hair place in Pathmark Shopping Center? Or maybe you can trust one of the other girls at Cactus.....

Jillian's the one who was supposed to do my makeup and I had booked her MONTHS ago but now when i just called they told me they didn't have me in the books for Sunday and that she wasn't working that day!! I don't know what to do!!

These things are always in store for every bride! Everything is going to work out!

Woman who does my Brazilian wax and who is really great cut her hours 3 days before my prewedding appointment with her! I made that appt 6 weeks before, and when i called to confirmed a day before they were like: oh, she doesn't work Wednesdays anymore and everyone else is booked! Well, they did find me someone else who turned out to be very good as well! Moral of the story- everything works out for the better!

Could the dress be too tight because it was right before your period? I gain 2 pounds every PMS!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend another salon, but I read alot of good things on this board about that Cactus salon everyone mentioned!

I spoke with Lenore, the manager at Cactus, and she said Jillian is away on an Alaskan cruise and doesn't know when she is coming back. I told her I could come in Sat OR Sun but I'm only in NY this weekend so I am crossing my fingers!! Do you think it is still worthwhile to try Jillian's personal numbers??

Totally right there with you!!! Three weeks and so much left to worry about. And so much to cram into one weekend when I go up in two weeks.

Which Cactus are your going to? I booked Rapheala for hair at the Islandia location and she was great to deal with. JN is doing my make-up, but if you can get Rapheala for hair, I would recommend her.

I am having ring drama also. It is totally stressing me out, but I know I will have it when I need it. We are not engraving our rings at all. So, that is at least one thing that I don't need to worry about. Why don't you think about just getting the rings and having it engraved by someone more reliable AFTER the wedding.

I am having the opposite problem with my dress. I'm suppose due to stress, I lost 10 lbs last month. My final fitting is next week and I am trying to eat like a pig to put it back on because I am afraid the thing will hang on me and look terrible.

Maybe all of these last minute stressors are par for the course.

I can't stand looking at the calendar anymore.
