What will be the 2000's version of shoulder pads & excessive lace?

What will be the 2000's version of shoulder pads & excessive lace?

we all enjoy poking fun of wedding dresses from the 80s that had huge shoulder pads and tons of lace and big fluffiness. But I assume back in the day the girls thought that was normal and lovely.

I feel like all of the current dresses are so timeless and simple.

Im worried though, that 20 years from now I will be laughing at whatever dress I choose.

I like the dresses with a hint of color but will I be horrified by that in 20 years? Are the big tulle skirts our downfall? the bunchedup/pull skirts?

What do you girls think are the newest trends that our daughters will be laughing at in the future?

ETA: OK definitely regretting starting this thread. I don't want to start drama since everyone's tastes differ. Abort mission!!! Abort mission!! I'll just get some shoulder pads and a big 'ol white hat for my wedding!

Your posts always crack me up, your always thinking...I LOVE IT!!!

I love all things 80's, even if it's only to laugh at!
the bridal attire that makes me say 'dear God' most often were those terrible head pieces that went around the brides forhead and also had the bridal party in similar head pieces in shades of fuschia or turqouis! Too funny!!!

Maybe our daughters will look at our pics 20-30 years from know and think our styles are boring??

Umm holy sweet of you for the props!!! Thank you!!

I think what sparked this was one of my new bride mags that came... one of these dresses was HUMONGOUS and had a huge pink-like tulle dress. I dont see anyone posting pics of that here, but someone's gotta be buying it... and that someone's daughter will most likely be like 'Mom WHAT were you thinking?!?!'

I wonder if they'll go back to being ultra-conservative? Like with long lace sleeves to the wrist? And theyll think we are s!uts for having strapless dresses??

True but we are expected to look back and giggle... afterall... That's what I did when I looked at my parents album. They wore this very silly thing on her head...i Guess at one point that thing was 'in.' As long as we are not outdated the day we walk down the isle then I'll be fine

WEIRD! I was just emailing one of my MOHs and one of my BMs and talking about dress length and said the same thing!! I went to a wedding with tea length dresses and it just didnt look right... the dresses all wound up fitting the girls so different because they were all VERY different sizes. Also one girl's skin hadnt seen the sun for days and her pasty legs kinda stuck out... Im also in March so I dont want my girls to freeze... but I agree.

I think they work well when all of your BMs are a similar size.

You are getting married in July, that makes total sense. I bet your girls will thank you for the extra 'ventilation'!!

There are definitely cute tea length dresses out there.

Pickups are the $hit. As a matter of fact a few girls I know are wearing them and their gonna look HOT!! Seriously.. There are soooo many other styles I can think of, other than pickups that will be out!! lets not kid ourselves here. Maybe some of you are just going with the flow of opinions, but whatever!

I think it is just like anything in this world. Look at cell phones, computers, shoe style, etc...
It is crazy how fast trends change

With a Wedding dress though, I think it is timeless and whoever is wearing that dress and feels comfortable in it, can get away with any style. I see women wearing their Mothers dresses from 20 years ago and they look as beautiful today as they did back then.

The Pick-up look, A-Line, etc... Whatever it may be, I think it depends on the bride and how she 'works it'

I am all about the pick ups.. I think they are stylish and different and don't require a bustle that will make your @$$ look like a big bubble but when done up.. and I also like tea length dresses, but personally aren't using them bc I am having an evening wedding and think that a full length dress is more appropriate..

but like my mom always taught me.. 'Opinions are like @$$holes, EVERYONE'S got one'!!!!
