Woman rejects ballpark marriage proposal

You know things are wrong in Astro-land when even a wedding proposal can't go off smoothly.

During Monday night's 7-0 loss to the Nationals at Minute Maid Park, a fan failed in his public attempt at asking his girlfriend to marry him, the Houston Chronicle reported on its Web site.
With the couple on display on the stadium's jumbotron, the male fan got down on one knee to present the ring. The woman, wearing a replica Astros jersey, appeared to dump a bag of popcorn on the man before hastily making her way up the stairs amid a chorus of boos, the newspaper reported.

The man left after the top of the sixth inning, cheered and consoled by an apparently sympathetic crowd.

'If it was an act, she put on a good one,' Astros manager Phil Garner was quoted as saying after the game. 'She looked totally surprised and then totally mad. We couldn't even get a proposal right down here tonight.

'We lead the league in marriage proposals, and we couldn't get that one right tonight.'

I would have loved to know what she was thinking - I mean i think before you are going to propse you should have spoke about marriage with the other person. Maybe he didnt!

Wow I feel horrible for that guy. Besides being told no which must hurt big time being told no in front of so many people and then making it to the newspaper. That is HORRIBLE.

i understand saying no but why did she get mad and throw the popcorn at him, hmmmm theres a juicy story behind that one probably lol.

yeah thats what i was thinking- i would love to know that story.. and yes she didnt have to embarrass him like that... although who knows - maybe shefelt she was embarrassed.. i want to know more!!

exactly, the first thing i thought about was hmmm ok is she the type who hates alot of attention and she got mad like that bc he did that, but still its crazy to react like that. Then i thought about how some guys propose after a big fight to make up with the gf so maybe thats what it was and she was still mad i have no clue

AWWWWWWW poor guy, what a biotch!!!!

That's horrible! I don't know the background info, maybe he cheated on her or something, I don't know....but then if you were so mad at him, why would you go to a baseball game with him?? Either way, if I were her, I wouldn't embarass the poor guy like that!

Yikes, that is ulitmate embarassment!! I mean, at least say yes for the camera then talk it over later or something, and don't pour popcorn on the poor guy who wants to spend the rest of his life with you in front of thousands of people. Poor guy

Awwww that suxs.... why would you propose that way without being like 110% sure that she'll say yes?? Better luck next time I guess
