I still don't have a dress! My wedding is 6 mos away!

I still don't have a dress! My wedding is 6 mos away!

Did ANYONE cut buying the dress as close as me??

I just can't find a dress I LOVE. I can't find the 'ONE' dress.

I don't know what to do. There are about five dresses that I like. None that I LOVE.

I have to say... I don't HEAD OVER HEELS LOVE my dress. I mean, I do. Maybe on my wedding day, I'll feel like it's 'The One'. But I never got 'that feeliing'. Don't get me wrong... when I have it on, I don't want to take it off, but I don't get that feeling like it's 'the ONE' like everyone else says.

So if you're waiting for 'that feeling'... I don't want to say to lower your standards, but maybe not everyone gets that feeling. Just find a dress you love or really like... not one where the angels come down from heaven and sing for you! My mom liked it... my MOH liked it and I liked it. That was enough. Plus, now that I lost weight, took it in, made a few changes to it, I love it more. But I would just relax, go try on dresses, see what suits you best, and get a dress that is right for you! You don't want to wait TOO much longer!

Good luck!

Do you have any idea of the type of dress you want?

I would suggest you dedicate SERIOUS time to this. Take a day off from work, go all weekend, SOMEHOW make the time to keep searching until you find a dress.

I didn't 'settle' for a dress but I probably would have picked a different dress if I had lost more weight. However, I picked the dress that flattered me the most and suited my personality. Try not to stress to much on 'that feeling'.

I have been trying!

These are the places I've gone to already: Kleinfeld's, Mark Ingram, Saks, Bridal Reflections, Macy's, RK Bridal, Lestan's, Lotus Bridal, Estelle's, David's Bridal, Amsale, Wedding Box, Wedding One, Wedding Salon of Manhasset.

I don't know anyone who has been to so many wedding salons.

i also did not get the feeling of 'the one' I just picked the one that I was most comfortable in, and what was most like my personality....everyone liked this particular dress on me, and it just felt right....I'd go back and try on those couple that you have it narrowed down to, and decide from there....I had it narrowed down to 3, and had to do that...

The more dresses you try on the harder it can be...you become somewhat indifferent. I personally would pick a style you like, find a few dresses that fit that look and just go with the best one. I'm sure you will look absolutley stunning no matter what dress you wear.

do you know at least the style you are looking for?

if i were you, I'll look at the HUGE theknot wedding magazine that has TONS of dresses. You're bound to find something you like that, and once you narrow it down, go on bridesave.com or netbride, or gownfind.com and ask if they have something similar!

You'll need to order it within the next 2 months if you hope you get your dress in time. It takes anywhere from 2-6 months to get your dress in.

worse comes to worse, book a seamstress and ask her to tailor something to what you like but haven't been able to find!

I'm sure you'll find something though! Good luck!

Are you finding anything 'close'? Is there a dress that you love but was just a little wrong? Because you can always do alterations!

Seriously, I wish you luck, I know this can be very hard. I struggled with it terribly. Most dresses come in sample sizes of 10 (which is a 6 street) and I was a size 16! I was very depressed while shopping but I eventually found my dress. I ordered my dress in January 2006 and my wedding was in June 06. My dress arrived end of April / beginning of May. You have time!

i was told to wait until 6 months before my wedding to even order the dress so you're in the clear. i would just continue looking.. whats your favorite style of dress?? that could help alot.

I didn't get 'that feeling' either... I just tried on a bunch of dresses over the span of a few days, and picked the one that looked best on me and I felt most comfortable in. There may not be 'one' dress for you. Think about your favorite style and what looks good on you, and then go for it! I'd say make it your goal to have it ordered by the end of this month. Good luck!

I got a dress was the first dress I tried on and I hate it. I am actually relooking because the one I order, I absolute hate how it looks on me. It is not what I want. I feel your pain girl, we are on thew same boat.

Did you try Priscilla of Boston? I would even go back to the places you already went to. They have tons of dresses. Have them pull different ones out.

Have you considered having it made? I couldnt find one I LOVED, but found many that had aspects I loved. So I put them all together , designed my own dress and its costing me A LOT less than anyone of the other dresses I was so-so about.

And unless you want intense beading or really intricate things, most seamstresses can bang them out pretty quickly. My wedding is in 6 months and I went to the first fitting (meaning the pattern of the dress was fitted to me) last week. And she said she will be done well before the wedding.

I agree. I love my dress too, but there was no magic that occurred when I tried it on. Then again, I don't really get like that with anything (except my FH ) You'll be fine, don't stress too much, then you won't like anything.

Good luck!

It's so tough when you have expectations of fireworks- I thought the same thing! I really didn't have it at first...to be honest, probably never did. But I definitely didn't want to take it off....and I finally had a moment by the third time I tried it on (three different occasions!!) I don't know what I was expecting- we all talk this up too much!

Lillette's was SO helpful....Pat could just tell what my style was and picked out just about anything that I would have loved. And though they get awful reviews around here, Princess Bridal is good to just shop, especially if you love Maggie Sotteros like me...she did a great job pulling things out that would work as well. Definitely check out Lillette's the sales help is just GREAT!!! You should probably try to find a great consultant to help you out.

GOOD LUCK!! I'm sorry this is so frustrating for you. It will happen!! Don't worry!!

Yes, I bought my dress right off the rack because I waited so long. I bought it around March and my wedding was in July. Buying off the rack was cheaper and there was NOTHING wrong with it at all. Good Luck!
