FH lost both his parents at a young age. I want to honor them at the wedding but not in too much of an ovious way since FH does not want to get upset at his wedding (although I know that will be hard) What is everyone doing to honor the deceased at their wedding? I need some ideas...

Re: How to honor deceased parents at the wedding...
My cousin lost her mother and she had a small vase by the altar with a rose in it....
Someone else i know did a rose on an empty seat... i didnt think that was such a good idea because it can draw attention to the fact...

Definitely mention them in the program. You can also set up a 'memorial' table and have two candles lit in their names. There are some BEAUTIFUL ones - i recently saw one - i'll grab a pic for ya.
Also - just for him - get him one of those 'boquet picture frames' -- have him put it in his pocket so that they are close to his heart on the day of....

I have a few great pics of them. So I was thinking of setting up a table with a few pics and candles. Are there any candles with poems on them?

I think the empty seat idea would be too much for him and his family. I feel like its just a reminder of how theyre not there.

I'm doing a memorial candle during the ceremony, it'll be very simple. I'll be emotional enough on my wedding day with the tears of joy.

I didn't lose eith of my parents and neither has FH but I lost my grandmother and It will be really hard for me on the day to not have here there. I am going to have a charm in my bo-k with her pic in it. This way I know she is a part of my day. You can always have a poem in the program about them or even have a pic of them on the table.

Agreed, i like the roses in the vase for each person we have lost. That is what I am doing.

I am going to have a memorial table for my dad and FH brother. I think I am going to do memorial candles, picture of me and my dad in a frame, pic of FH brother, and a poem for my dad in a frame.

I so love the the floating candle idea. I lost my mom and I wanted to have a candle at the altar during the ceremony, but was worried that it would burn to fast and not last for the reception.
I am definitely going to have something in the program, a candle burning and flowers at the altar. Also at the RH I would love to have a table with her pic, the candle, and flowers..

Fh's parents are deceased since a young age - we just put them in the back of our program. We are lighting the unity candle in memory of them and we have a picture out on the table with other family members (still living and some now gone). We are not giving them a huge spotlight because my fh and i do not belive in making a wedding into a memorial of dead people just a nice acknlowedgement of them.

Exactly. I really want to do something to honor them but I dont want to put too much attention on it because I know Fh doesnt want that. Its gonna be hard enough for him. Were not having programs because the whole event is taking place at JT. I think Ill just do the table with a candle for everyone who has passed.

Re: How to honor deceased parents at the wedding...
since I lost my dad, my grandma and my aunt, I want to do something really special for all 3.
We will be doing a montage of pics of me and the deceased.. But we were thinking of doing the candle thing. but how do we do that for all of them?
my grandma and I were very close...and her name was rose...so we may do something with a vase with all colored roses...or red.
My dads name was leonard...we are getting married at leonards...so we have to figure something out.
and my aunt phyllis...well she played the guitar...so we are having someone play during the night.
