How to honor deceased parents at the wedding...

Original post by Butterfly123

FH lost both his parents at a young age. I want to honor them at the wedding but not in too much of an ovious way since FH does not want to get upset at his wedding (although I know that will be hard) What is everyone doing to honor the deceased at their wedding? I need some ideas...

I lost my dad as well 3 years ago to leukemia. FH and I will be lighting his memorial candle as soon as mass starts - with The Prayer (by Celine Dion and Andre Bochelli) playing. I don't think I can handle anymore than that!

My grandmother and I were very close... i'm thinking about doing a candle like the ones you guys have been choosing. either that or lay flowers in front of the alter in her memory.

i dont want to do too many candle lighting things... havent decided yet.. but you have great suggestions

I saw this and saved it. I thought it was a really nice poem for a Memorial table

We thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
and days before that too.
We think of you in silence,
we often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories,
and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake,
with which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping,
we have you in our hearts.

In loving memory of.....

what we did was make a donation in their memory.

we put a tastefully made donation card with the menu. i can forward you what we created using word...if you can send me the email address. my mom didn't know we did this and got teary at the reception.

We just lost FH's mom last year...three months after we got engaged. We're doing a memorial table, with pics of her, my grandma, and grandpa...I want to do one empty seat to symbolize all of them. We're making a donation to the American Cancer Society in her memory instead of favors. I'm getting FH locket cufflinks with her picture in them. I have the bouquet frames for a pic of her and my grandma. And at the reception, we're playing a special song.
She's going to be at the front of both our minds that whole day. I want to incorporate her memory in as many ways as I can.
