ive received plenty of invitations from couple who have a house together or already living together and dont want 101 toasters and blenders for their wedding....usually these couple write in fine print at the very bottom of the wedding invitation 'No Boxed Gifts Please' in italics...
ive always than opted for giving them a nice some of cash, its understandable, however talking to my mom about it today actually..she said she thinks thats rude... ..i was just wondering what u girls feel about that?

Re: No Boxed Gifts please
think its rude too.
I think that if you already live together and you can already buy everything you want (DH and I lived together for 2 years before we got married, but we 'upgraded' when we registered). Then you should register for your honeymoon or something.

Re: No Boxed Gifts please
i think it's rude too. i think that you should register for your shower and include the registries in that invite (and then people will KNOW what you want or don't) and there should be nothing about a gift in your wedding invite. either the people will go back to your registry or give you money, more than likely. and if they give you a toaster you don't want, then exchange it for something you do, end of story. lol, if someone wrote that on a wedding invite, i just might go purchase a boxed gift for them, lol

Re: No Boxed Gifts please
I would have to agree with your mother....as much as FH and I would also prefer cash, I could never imagine spelling out to my guests that fact that I don't want gifts.... They will get/give you what they want.... personally, If I got an invite basically asking for cash, I might purposely get a gift.... Spiteful yes.... but what can ya do!

If I received an invite that said that-I would think it to be rude.

Re: No Boxed Gifts please
I agree. I wouldn't put that on my invitation. I wouldn't register at all if I didn't want any gifts. We only received one gift at our wedding. In total, we've gotten maybe five boxed gifts. Everyone else gave us cash. I think our parents gave people hints that we were paying ourselves and appreciated cash. The word got around.

Re: No Boxed Gifts please
I AGREE TOO!! i found it rude, but i knew they definately did need any household products etc...but naturally most ppl invited to the wedding are close enough to know the living status of the couple- and would than probably opt for a cash gift or something else. word gets around, if they have a house together, if they have a registry or not. etc... i didnt mind... but my mom did lol ...
but thanks for ur opinions

Re: No Boxed Gifts please
I think it's rude. Who is to say we are actually receiving gifts from anyone? We know we will, but shouldn't mention it.
