I hear that 20% of your guests you invite to your wedding reply NO to the RSVP's. Is this true?
Im inviting probably 145 now so I am to figure at least 116 Yes's??

Re: % of guests....
I think the % goes up if you have more OOT guests, larger extended family... We're inviting 150 and probably expecting 130.

Re: % of guests....
its more like 20-30%, i hear now that the rate is more on the higher end bc of the economy.

Re: % of guests....
We didnt invite many OOTs at all, and those we did invite, actually came.
We invited about 216, i think.. and 148 RSVP'd yes. At the wedding we had about 10 no shows! Thats about at 36% no ratio. I heard on the radio a couple of months ago that a lot of people were saying no to weddings because of the economy.

Re: % of guests....
Im pretty sure that the 20% grat is on final bill before taxes....Thats how Ive always dont it working at restaurants. But RH's could be different.

Re: % of guests....
We invited 189 and we had 117 show. We were under our minimum. We did have a lot of OOT who couldn't come, but a lot of local people said no as well, I think the economy had a lot to do with it.

Re: % of guests....
I hope that by the time my wedding happens in 165 days (yay July 11th!!!), the economy will start to turn around a little. We're inviting 200, and our minimum is 150. Ideally, we want 175. I'd much rather be over the minimum than under. . .because you're responsible for paying for the people who don't show up!!!

you get things thrown in for free though. Personally my one worry was that we DONT go over our guarantee. We guaranteed 275 and we added a bunch of extra's and i had budgeted for everything and last thing i wanted was 2 weeks before the wedding to go in and say that i now owe a couple extra thousand dollars. At that point what we were paying for the RH, i didnt want to go above it. I was saying i'd rather be under my minimum and not pay extra and get things thrown in for free to make up for it. I was under my minimum but by a little. I would say 10 or less, was gonna be more but then last week found out more were coming. But at that point they already threw in the free martini bar, and a few other stuff and i was happy with that. Didnt have to pay extra and got extra things lol.

awww I am sorry it just all has to do with this economy. WIth so many out of work its hard for them to attend a wedding, or alot of places did no bonus or raises for the whole year, so there have been setbacks even for those working. Its just such a hard time and unfortunately so many have to suffer bc of it. I hope you dont take it personally, i am sure so many of them who responded no would love to attend and are very upset they can. I heard on the radio and read an article where they were saying that there was a very high percentage of no's for rsvps at weddings, alot higher than usual.

I have also to take 20% right off the top. I am having 210 invited and praying that 30% don't show LOL

I do not know how valid this is, perhaps you can post this equation on the NW board but I came across this equation:
Total # of Guest x .66 then multiply the answer by 1.15
this allegedly gives you the amount of guests you can expect.
Disclaimer: I would just be sure you can accomodate and afford everyone on your list just in case everyone says yes! lol

Re: % of guests....
I agree, it's more like between 20-30% nos...I think you might have a higher percentage saying yes if you send out STDs, but unfortunately the economy might drive people's decisions about whether to attend a wedding or not
