is it tacky to add the registration cards with our engagement invitations? I mean I don't see why not, I rather people already know than have to call me. I'm spending so much money on the invitations and postage, why not just add it?

actually you're not supposed to do that at all, that is one of the biggest rules...I dont think all rules should be followed but this is a big one
For one you can't ask for gifts, it should not be expected and by you putting it in there its like hey buy me something...ppl do buy you things or give a cash gift but still it shouldn't be expected.
The only time it is acceptable is for the bridal shower bc you are not throwing that party and you don't even know about it at all

also at e-parties most ppl give cash and those that want to buy a gift they'll call your family or whomever.

Re: is it tacky to add the registration cards
Please don't add registry information to either your engagement party or your wedding invitations. It's rude.
If you have a wedding Web site, feel free to put the URL on your reception or directions card in your wedding invitation. Then, your guests can see where you're registered on your Web site.
Otherwise, they should learn via word of mouth. Tell people only when asked.

Extremely tacky.
Don't do it. If people want to know where you are registered, they will ask.

Re: is it tacky to add the registration cards
People give what ever they want (gifts/money) at the eparty, I wouldnt include the reg card, but I have seen the reg card included in the bridal shower invites (obviously)
it may be very tacky but we are doing it anyway. after all the horror stories ive heard about tacky e-party gifts, i will gladly include some guidance for the few ppl who have no clue what to give.

first think about your guests and whether or not they actually give gifts...We didn't receive one gift for our e-party, everyone gave cash...the only gifts we did receive off of our registry were guests who couldn't make it.
Or how about making a website and you include your registry info in there

Re: is it tacky to add the registration cards
A lot of my family asked why I didn't register for our engagement party...
1. I didn't think you were suppose to do that only because that is what a bridal shower was for.
2. We made out much better with the cash only because we don't have a home yet so it was great getting so $$ to put towards the wedding.
So no I wouldn't do it, I totally agree with the girls above.

It is in poor taste to include the registry cards in the invite. What you actually want to do is when family starts asking each other, have some close relatives spread the word about the registry. That way it doesn't look like a gift grab.

I agree, you don't want to seem like you're asking for gifts. Thats the main reason why we didn't bother to have an engagement party to begin with.
Its definetely tacky.

Re: is it tacky to add the registration cards
i dont think you should be expecting gifts for you engagement party. The party is simply to inform your family and friends of your engagement. You should NOT expect gifts at all.
If your guest choose to give monetary gifts, then you accept, but dont do a registry. Your just implying that you want gifts.
You should expect gifts at the the bridal shower

Yes it is tacky, in my opinion. Your mom or yourself will be able to tell people where you're registered because people will ask when they call to RSVP. I got tons of stuff off my registry for my eparty, because my entire family kept calling to find out where we were registered.

I agree 100%...IMO I think it's tacky because I feel like you're just saying ok buy us stuff.

it is tacky. What we're doing is putting our wedding website on our STD's and if a guest wants to get us a gift we have our registry information on the website

Re: is it tacky to add the registration cards
i agree.. i wouldnt put in registery cards for an eparty.
In fact we didnt even register when we had our eparty. Some people questioned us and wanted to buy gifts and we let them know they were welcome to purchase us gifts but we had not registewred. We recieved moslty cash (only about 4 people gave us a gift)
if people want to find your registry.. trust me they know how to go to macys.com or etc and pput in your name!

Re: is it tacky to add the registration cards
FH and I decided to do a small registry for our e-party so that if people ask what to get us our parents can say that we're registered. I definitely wouldnt put the registry card in the invitation...thats asking for a gift and at an e-party gifts are optional
