2011 BRIDAL SHOWER INFO as of 7/20/11

There is none yet.

I'm studying for the bar exam, as many of you know. I do not yet have time to organize the bridal shower. If someone else would like to take over for a bit and corroborate with me later when I'm finished with my test next week, that's totally fine. Otherwise, I have to wait.

I promise though, as soon as there are any details at all about planning, or when there's a date, everyone will know as soon as that date is booked..

WE SHOULD BE AIMING FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY IN NOVEMBER WITH THE FIRST SUNDAY AS A SECOND PREFERENCE. THis gives us the maximum amount of time to plan without running into the holidays.

I appreciate all your FM's, ladies. I just don't have any definitive info to offer.

Looooooooove,
Jamie

I''ll take help from anyone! If you're going to call for quotes, please FM them to me. Don't start a thread.

I'd also like to add that we'd like to keep the location in Eastern to Central Nassau to be fair to girls from Suffolk AND all the girls we have from the 5 boroughs.
Thanks!

Jill, at last count I had around 60 people who expressed interest. Since then more people have added to the thread. But we all know how g2g's work out in terms of numbers, so I don't really know how many we should be aiming for? a 60 person shower seems like a lot but still manageable, but I don't know if I'd want to go much over that. Thoughts? Opinions?

THese are the types of things that need an executive decision and I don't realy have the time to be the executive right now SO like I said, if someone else wants to be point person in my wake for a bit, let me know and I'll direct people to you and then we can be partners later!

I think we should cap it at a certain number...only b/c 70/80 is about the breaking point where a restaurant can't fit you, so you have to move it to a RH. If people wound up unable to come, but we've guaranteed like 75 for a RH, we'll be up the creek.

Thoughts?

Edit: Not to mention that the jump from a restaurant to a RH for a shower adds like $10/pp at least.

Hey Ladies,

If that many ppl are saying 'Yes' maybe we should try and look into location that can fit that many without being a real 'RH'. Then see what the max amount of ppl we can get, and then cap it at that.

If I found some places, I will FM you the info.

ITA with that... 60-65 should be the max after we figure out where the shower will be and how much it would cost.. the first 60 ppl to pay would be the 60 that will come.. and as the time gets closer if anyone needs to drop out we will have a list of girls that wanted to be there but didnt make it and they can take the spots...

It sounds kinda s**cky but it might have to go that way...

Yeah, that was my concern, guaranteeing people and not having enough who are actually able to com. I think it we wind up at an RH, it'll be more expensive, but Id on't know cause I've never planned anything like this, so if people know the answer to that or if anyone wants to do a price comparison between RH's and restaurants? I think 75-80 people is a madhouse, personally. I don't know where the cap should be.

Up to 70 girls, you'll be able to have it in a restaurant. As long as everyone's willing to make a cap around there, my experience shows that we can pull it off.

I agree!!! Do you have any suggestion on places? I have off from work tomorrow so I will contact a bunch of places to start getting quotes

There's going to be a minimum, and there's going to be a cap. Unfortunately, there are probably going to be girls who want to come and aren't able to because of numbers, that's just how it's going to be. There are also going to be girls who join after we've planned... it's just going to have to be first come first serve, unfortunately.

also - from what I read how they did it last year was they got the price and people had to RSVP and pay up front - I think this way is smart bc it protects all involved. And if at last minute someone couldnt make it, someone on the waiting list could pay that person back and take their spot.

Done. Restaurant it is. I say we find a place with a lower guarantee, around 45-ish but can hold more than that if we need to. But get quotes for wherever you'd like where the minimums are between 40 and 60 (or less but can hold up to 60) and we can weigh those options.

Yes, this will be the plan. I'm hoping someone volunteers to be in charge of keeping track of RSVP's and money and the deposit cause that's one job I don't want/can't handle.

I'm thinking it's going to have to be the same person or same 2 people because the RSVP is going to be your payment, KWIM?
