I'm studying for the bar exam, as many of you know. I do not yet have time to organize the bridal shower. If someone else would like to take over for a bit and corroborate with me later when I'm finished with my test next week, that's totally fine. Otherwise, I have to wait.
I promise though, as soon as there are any details at all about planning, or when there's a date, everyone will know as soon as that date is booked..
WE SHOULD BE AIMING FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY IN NOVEMBER WITH THE FIRST SUNDAY AS A SECOND PREFERENCE. THis gives us the maximum amount of time to plan without running into the holidays.
I appreciate all your FM's, ladies. I just don't have any definitive info to offer.

I think we should cap it at a certain number...only b/c 70/80 is about the breaking point where a restaurant can't fit you, so you have to move it to a RH. If people wound up unable to come, but we've guaranteed like 75 for a RH, we'll be up the creek.
Thoughts?
Edit: Not to mention that the jump from a restaurant to a RH for a shower adds like $10/pp at least.
I agree!!! Do you have any suggestion on places? I have off from work tomorrow so I will contact a bunch of places to start getting quotes
Peppercorns in Hicksville Davenport Press in Mineola Wantagh Inn in Wantagh Milleridge Inn Restaurant Umberto's Restaurant in New Hyde Park Maxxels in Mineola
IF people would consider Queens, Abbraciamento's.

also - from what I read how they did it last year was they got the price and people had to RSVP and pay up front - I think this way is smart bc it protects all involved. And if at last minute someone couldnt make it, someone on the waiting list could pay that person back and take their spot.
Yes, this will be the plan. I'm hoping someone volunteers to be in charge of keeping track of RSVP's and money and the deposit cause that's one job I don't want/can't handle.

They've set up paypal accounts int he past. That's the volunteer's decision to make, I don't wanna know nothing about the $$, lol. Whatever will work.

I think if we say Queens there's going to be a lot of balking, so unless it's an AMAZING deal, I say we avoid Queens.
For sh1ts and giggles, can someone call Crestwood Manor since they're and LIW vendor and see if they have a date available and how much it would be? Even though it's an RH?

Umberto's IS awesome, I go there all the time. My mom's been going there since they opened and since she lives in Eastern Suffolk now she gets jealous every time I get to go there since I live in Queens and I'm close. HA, MOM!

the 2010 shower had a set # of spots. I think it was like 50 and that was it. And Christine would only open the paypal every few weeks. I would not guarentee anymore then 50.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking, Kim. I was hoping to guarantee a lower number, 45 or 50 but have the flexibility for the room to hold a little more if we need to based on interest, up to around 60 only because we're planning this later than the 2010 brides did in relation to their shower so we have so many brides now. But there will definitely be a cap on the amount of slots available.

I will put them on my call list.... I have already emailed all the places on the list that have emails plus a few more and made a call sheet for the rest tomorrow.

Re: 2011 BRIDAL SHOWER INFO
If no one volunteers I will handle the money (through Paypal). I think the 10'ers had the point person (kept track of who paid) and then paid the place when the money was due.
The only problem I'm not sure of is if we need to leave a deposit.
Let me know
