The Official Wedding Vows post...

Ok, in an effort to keep 07 alive, and to help inspire anyone else trying to write their own vows...or select their wording, let's share what was said!

Here are DH's to me...(we always joked about 'til death do us part') And i must add that he had so many people crying...(including our DOC) with his words...

Groom
Today is the first day of our being together - till death do us part.
You know that I always say to you - if you aren’t happy, then I’m not happy...
But, I have to say, that these words mean more to me then you could ever imagine.

Everyday, I wake up, wishing that you will have a day that:
-Will bring your dreams one step closer
-Will open doors that you never dreamed possible
-That you will make the choices that you want, not what others want
-That I can bring your life closer to what you want
-That I can provide you the love that you so richly deserve
-That I can live up to your expectations and desires

I wish that your smile will continue to brighten my day like it has
everyday that I have been with you.

And that I can honor the love that you have given me and I can make all your dreams come true...till death to us part.
I wish I could take away all your troubles, all your regrets, all things bad.

I know I can’t, but, I can still be there for you, that I can make your days a bit brighter, that I can love you as much as I love you now, and that I can fulfill as many of your dreams as I can.

It has been an incredible journey for the past five years, and I know that that journey will continue for the next fifty.
Thank you for accepting the responsibility of being my wife...

Mine to DH..
Bride
I asked God to bring joy into my life...and he did.
I asked God to bring strength into my life...and he did.
I asked God to bring love into my life...and he did.
I asked God for all of these things...and he gave me you.

When I had given up on hope, you gave me reason to dream.

When I had given up on happiness, you made me laugh and smile.

When I had given up on my heart, you filled it with all of your love.

When I had given up on love, you proved that I was wrong.

You are the strength I need, the guidance I want, and the love I desire.
Know that I will spend my life trying to be those things to you, in my heart, thru my words and with my actions.

I love you more than these mere words could ever express, and so this is my solemn vow to you.

Here is the vow part of our ceremony!!

“Peter and Melissa– now we come to your vows that bind your covenant and may I remind you that they must be renewed everyday that stretches out before you. Peter please read your pledge of love to Melissa on this wonderful occasion.”

“I, Peter, take you Melissa, to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I give you my open heart and mind my time, my attention sharing love in good times and bad- sharing my fears, hopes and dreams each day and to bring joy, strength, and imagination to our relationship. I promise to give you the best of myself and to ask of you no more than you can give. I promise to respect you as your own person- to realize that your interest, desires, and needs are no less important than my own. I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, and forever. I will trust you and honor you. I will laugh with you and cry with you. I will love you faithfully. Come what may, I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold-so I give you my life to keep.


These are my solemn vows to you, as I promise to love you all the days of my life---So help me God.”


(then i repeated the same to him)

We wrote our whole ceremony
But it was awesome because we included aspects of each others culture. We also wrote our vows together and it was really special because everything we said in them is so true for us.

Below are our vows:
I (name) choose you (name) to be my eternal partner in life,
and to you I promise this:
I will be your comrade in adventure,
your ally in conflict,
your student and your teacher.
I will be your strength in need,
your understanding in confusion,
your consolation in disappointment,
your greatest fan and your sincerest critic.

your partner in parenthood,
but most of all, I will be your friend.
From this day forward you shall never again walk alone,
for my heart will be your shelter, and my arms will be your home.
I promise this to you in a commitment made in love, kept in faith, and eternally made new
As I give to you now my hand to hold, I give to you my life to keep.





We are still receiving compliments on how unique and awesome our ceremony was. People actually said that they paid attention because it was so different and they loved it!!

Mine to DH
I choose you to be my husband and partner for life. I promise to give you the best of myself and to ask of you no more than you can give. I promise you my deepest love, my fullest devotion, and my most tender care. I promise to love you and to respect you. I promise to be your strength in need and your understanding in confusion. Through the pressures of the present and the uncertainties of the future, I promise to be faithful to you. You have shown me what love feels like and for that I thank you. Today I come to realize that all of my prayers have been answered and that all of my dreams have come true. I praise God for you 'dh': for all of your love and your constant friendship. I know that our love is heaven sent and I promise to cherish it forever and always. From this day forward, you will never walk alone. My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home. Not only do I give you my hand to hold, I also give you my life to keep. With every beat of my heart, I will love you. This is my solemn vow to you.

I convinced DH to write his own vows, it took about 6 months! But I am so glad that we did

When I find DH's I will add them, but for now here are mine:

I, Ryan take you Billy to be my wedded husband before our beloved family and friends. To be my soul mate, best friend and father of our children from this day forward. When I look in your eyes; I can clearly see our future, our kids and us growing old together. I now know that love is a friendship set on fire. Thank You for always being my friend and bringing out the best in me. Thank you for being a wonderful father to our DD. I fall more in love with you every time I hear her call you “Daddy”. You have enriched our lives with endless love, an amazing extended family and very special friends. I promise to stand by you thru good times and bad, for richer or poorer and for both baseball and football seasons. I look forward to spending my forever with you.

haha...that is great Ryan!! i ad-libbed onto mine that i promise not to gain more than 20lbs...haha..

We went with the traditional wedding vows. We did chose the following blessing to be read at the beginning of our ceremony:



The Apache Wedding Prayer
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place,
To enter into the days of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the Earth.

This was our final blessing:

I Ching
When two people are at one in their inmost hearts, they shatter even the strength of iron or bronze. And when two people understand each other in their inmost hearts, their words are sweet and strong, like the fragrance of orchids.

That is BEAUTIFUL kat!!!!

lets see I will post pics not sure if you can read them though..... otherwise i will post what we each wrote to each other when I get home tonight

we didn't let each other see or know what they were till the day of, we felt it would loss how special it was if we read them before hand so it was a surprise, and it was an amazing feeling!!!

Our vows

I (name), take you (name) to be my (husband/wife), my constant friend,and my one true love. Regardless of the obstacles we may face together, I promise to love you faithfully from this day forward.

I had our Officiant ask us one question to both my DH and I in private.

That question was ,'What made us fall in love with each other ?'


The Officiant revealed on our day what both my DH and I shared with himin private about one another in front of everyone , and I was so touched hearing what he said and vise versa. It definitly was a crowd pleaser!
